It’s My Birthday

Who ever said, “If I had know I would live this long would have taken better care of myself” was a very wise person.

Today I’m celebrating my 49th birthday and I can tell you… I am in the best shape of my life!

Sure, the knees hurt a little more than they did a few years ago and it seems those darn weights are getting heavier by the day.  Still, I have never felt better in my life - and I’m loving life.

Today I was trying to figure out exactly when the “click” happened that finally got me on track to losing weight,…

Discover Your Purpose in Life With THE Secret Question

At some point in our lives we all seek to find the purpose of our life and will ask questions like, “Why am I here?” and “What am I supposed to do?”

When you think about it, the one hundred or so years most of us have on this planet is a long time… we I might as well be productive.

But how do you figure out what some already seem to know?

Have you ever noticed how some folks seem to have their life figured out from the time the doctor slapped them on the butt and brought them…

New York Times Says It All

Joe Spears is one of my long time Premium Members and recently sent this clipping from the New York Times.  I thought I would share.

"For the last few decades, the most popular diets were complex formulas that promised abundant eating with just the right combination of fat, protein and carbohydrates.  Now those regimens are starting to look like exotic mortgages and other risky financing instruments.  And just like a reliable savings account, good old calorie counting is coming back in fashion.”

Thanks Joe.  That just about says it all.

Consistancy Is Key To Getting Exercise Results

As a guy who spends every day of my life help other folks lose weight, shape up and find happiness in their life, I’m always getting this question, “what’s the secret to getting in shape”?

You won’t like the answer because it’s so simple that most folks won’t do it.  Just BE consistent.  That’s it!

When it comes to getting anything you want in your life, it all comes down to just showing up every day and doing a little bit at a time.

It’s like being a baby and taking your first small “baby steps”.  Keep going long enough and before you know it you’ll be running marathons.

As…

Working Out With Jim From New Jersey

If you’ve listened to The Daily Boost, The Motivation To Move Show, The Fitness Boost and my other programs, you’ve heard my talk about my great Premium Members.

I love my members and they are really some great folks.  That’s why I love it when they visit me here in Orlando - usually with a workout!

Jim from New Jersey met Joi and I at 6 am for a workout.  I’ve got to tell you, he’s a great guy who’s already taken off 75 pounds with more on the way. The workout… and the conversation was great.

So, thanks Jim for pushing us a bit - we really enjoyed it!

And remember,…

My November Tradition

Is there a time of the year when you just lose it?  I mean, lose it or not lose it in terms of diet and exercise.  It used to be that way for me until I started my November tradition.

It’s a November tradition for me – starting a diet when everybody else is stopping.

With the holidays just around the corner – it’s time to pay attention.  Here’s what I mean.

The average person gains 8 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years.  And so did I in years past, until I started my November Tradition.  It’s simple.

Every November…

What I Learned At Biketoberfest

In 2003 I decided to take full advantage of my right to a great “Midlife Crisis” and purchased my fist Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  Since the, my friend Sid and I have been to Daytona Bike Week each March and Biketoberfest in October every year.

Over the years we’ve both enjoyed put lots of miles on our bikes - usually with our wives on the seat behind us.

This year on our trip to the beach Sid made a comment that stuck with me when we were on Main Street in Daytona and he said, “these folks aren’t holding up so well… and I’m right there with them”.

The sad part is, he was right.  The crowd…

What Are You Going To BE For Halloween?

This year, I’ve decided I’m going to BE, “more gooder then badder”.

Well, actually, Joi and I have costumes for Halloween and this year we’re dressing as Zorro. That’s right, Mr. and Mrs. Zorro. Of course, my sword is bigger than hers.

But, that’s what I’m going to wear.  What I’m going to BE is totally different.

Why?

Because the real challenge at Halloween comes from those sweet chocolate temptations that we’re supposed to handing to the kids.... and the Halloween party am attending after all the trick-or-treating is over.

With that in mind, the strategy that I will employee this year is the same I’ve done every year…

Guided Motivation Stress Relief Edition Released

Today I had a new experience - I exercised for 90 minutes with the sound of a fire alarm blasting throughout LA Fitness.

Now, if this had been a couple of years ago, that would have been a perfect "Life Gets In The Way" excuse for me to go home and get back in bed.

But we didn’t.  And neither did anybody else.

All the regulars just kept moving as usual with the occasional wisecrack about the alarm system.  They went something like this:

Scott:  "Hey, Mike.  Any idea why the alarm is screaming?"

Mike: "It’s my fault.  I guess all these workouts I’m doing are making me smoking hot!"

Funny right?  But… an absolutely true conversation.

So what’s my point?

In anything you do…

Relieving Stress With Guided Motivations

Sometimes, it just amazes me how a simple letter can remind me to do something I should have done a long time ago.

If you’ve ever listened to my Start Moving Stay Proving Program, you’ve heard my Guided Motivations.

Guided Motivations are somewhat like guided meditations, but they’re different in the sense that not only do they relax you, but they also motivate you to get what you want out of your life.

Well, I got a letter today from a listener asking if I had anything that would help with the stress she was dealing with all bad today’s economic and political news.  I certainly understand, times are…

What We Believe Is Who We Are

Not a day goes by that I don’t have a conversation about “beliefs” with one of our members - and I always enjoy the conversations because I really get to see folks discover what “they” are truly about.

One of the more interesting things that happens during these conversations is that I am usually asked, “so what do you believe?”.  Of course, I’m always willing to share and I thought I would do the same for you.  This is the “what I believe” document that we just created around Motivation To Move to keep us on track every day.

Motivation To Move
The purpose of Motivation To…
