Wow! What a week!  How about an update?
Sunday, January 22, 2006

I worked.  I wrote.  I exercised.  I flew.  I kissed my wife… a lot!

This week I was signed off by my flight instructor to fly the Cessna 172SP away from the airport on a 30 mile cross country journey – ALL BY MYSELF – just me and Air Traffic Control.

While a lot happened along the way, including a couple of not to pretty landings, I returned safely home without breaking me or anything else.

I haven’t felt this way since I first got my driver license when I was 16 and headed out for a night on the town.

I share this with you because I have truly found learning to fly a great metaphor for learning anything in life.  It is the single hardest thing I have ever done.  Also the scariest.  Yet little by little, “hard” has turned to skill, and “scary” has become a calmed and controlled exhilaration

The ability to get up above the craziness of mother earth gives you an entirely new site picture on life.  Don’t know what a “Site Picture” is?  I talk about it on this weeks Motivation To Move Show.  Make sure you listen.

On another note, my wife says she’s glad I’m flying because I can help her find a parking space at the Mall next Christmas.  Hmmm.

Millions of Emails
OK , maybe not millions, still, every week I get dozens.  You know I love to answer them personally but lately a few have fallen through the cracks.

If you’ve written, remember, you may get an answer directly from me or hear your reply on the weekly Motivation To Move Show all gussied up with music and stuff.

Some of you will hear your email answered in the form of a tip on our daily sixty second Motivation to Move Minutes

In the rare case that you haven’t heard back at all, hang in there and you will.  If you’re in doubt?  Resend your email and I’ll make sure I get back to you.

The Community
One of the benefits of being around awhile and having so many listeners is the ability to see the beginning of a bigger picture emerging. Over the last few months I have begun to see a trend in many of the emails that frankly just blows me away.

Folks, just like you, are asking how they can get involved with Motivation To Move.  They’re asking for a way to share the inspiration they have found and to help me reach more people.

It’s pretty simple.  I’ve come to learn that many have been touched and affected and just want to give back.

Some are regular folks who have learned from experience and study how to succeed in diet, weight-loss and life.

Many are coaches and motivators themselves who use Motivation To Move to stay inspired and to keep their clients on track.

The vast majority are listeners who struggle just like you and me and find comfort in knowing we’re all in the same boat.

I am honored by all of them.

That’s why I have created the new Motivation To Move Community.

I’m not incredibly good at this Internet stuff but with the help of a few of my new friends, I’ve added a place on the website for everybody to come and share.

It’s not perfect yet but as my friend Tom always says, “Give me version 1, we’ll go from there”.

Well, version 1 of the Motivation To Move Community is now active and waiting for YOU to fill it up.

In creating the community, I didn’t seed it with comments or suggestions - that’s your job.  I set up a basic structure and the rest is up to you.

So get in there.  Share and learn.  Let me know what we can do to make the community and Motivation To Move more useful to you.  Become a “Guru” and help others get motivated and have fun!  And remember… I’ll have a need for moderators and Motivation To Move ambassadors soon so I’ll be watching the community for you to shine.

One last thing.

To use an over used term - Motivation To Move is my passion.

It is not something I ever thought I would do…although I do.

It is not something I planned for and created… although I did.

It is not something I intended to fill every moment of my day… although I do.

To me, Passion is the place I am myself, in “the zone”, on purpose and being the ME I was designed to BE – when I BE.

I’m right where I’m supposed to be and I’m glad you’re here with me.

Thanks for you support.

Scott

PS - Don’t doddle.  Get over to the new Motivation To Move Community and have some fun.
