One of the questions that comes up on a regular basis is, “How much water should I drink when I exercise?

When it comes to exercise, folks are always asking me how much water they should drink when they workout.  And I always ask, “How much do you drink when you’re not exercising”… and they never know?

So I guess they really need two answers.

Well, being under hydrated can reduce your energy dramatically, and hinder weight loss so here’s what I do.  In the morning, I drink about 16 oz of room temperature water… it goes down easier that way.  I do the same before I go to bed.

During the day, I normally drink a glass every hour.  And since our bodies can process about 8 oz of water every 15 minutes, when I exercise, I drink 16 oz of water an hour before, 16 oz during and another 16 oz after a workout.

It seems like a lot… but since our bodies are made of mostly water… it’s really a drop in the old body bucket.

Hey, it’s all about moving – do some now… so you can do more later.
