Minute #257 | The Dopamine Excuse
Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Are you an overeater?  Do you KNOW that you shouldn’t but you do anyway?  And that goes for exercise too?  Hmmm… maybe it’s just in your head.

Being an overeater is something lots of folks have a problem with.  Those same folks also have a hard time getting themselves to exercise.  Hey – I’ve got good news.  It’s all in your head!

The guys in the white jackets that research this kind of thing now know that overeaters are missing something when it comes to knowing when to stop.  They don’t have as much dopamine in their system as average weight folks do.

So you may have an excuse.  No need to dig too deep here – just know that could be why you eat too much.

But check this out – they also found that exercise creates more dopamine in your system so you don’t overeat.  There goes your excuse.  Sorry about that.  Now I like to keep things simple so here we go.  Instead of diet and exercise, why not exercise and diet?  So it’s true?

It is all about moving… do some now so you can do more later.
