Minute #11 | Chunking Your Diet
Monday, July 07, 2008

Have you ever felt that when it comes to dieting… you’re biting off more than you can chew?  For some people, dieting success is simple.

You did it!  You finally decided to start a diet.  Well good for you.  Then, suddenly, you find yourself at a restaurant having to make a choice.  And that’s where I used to get in trouble.

Face it, with most of us eating 60% of our meals out these days, there’s plenty of opportunity to fall face first into a basket of French fries.  So how do you keep on track?

I say, chunk your diet.

Chunking is a concept used to simplify complex tasks into smaller, more do-able segments.  It’s great for getting things done… like diets.  For me, a diet is this simple.  I chunk it down to one day at a time, with 1500 calories per day that I divide over 4 or 5 meals.  Then I repeat one day at a time until my goal is reached.

It’s simple… but I like simple.

Hey, it’s all about moving – do some now… so you can do more later.
