Minute #2 | How Hard Should You Workout
Tuesday, June 24, 2008

Have you ever been in a fitness class and felt like your heart was going to jump right out of your chest, look you in the face and say what are you thinking?  There is a better way.

So you finally joined a fitness class.  Good idea – it’s a great way to get fit and have fun.  Just remember, the instructor is there to motivate you – and sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and work too hard or try to keep up with the person next to you – not a good idea since they might have been working out for years.  So here’s what you do.

Monitor yourself!  When your heart rate kicks in, ask yourself, on a scale of 1 to 10, how do I feel?  Between a 5 and a 7 is perfect!  And if you want to work harder, you will.  Give yourself some time and you’ll be doing more and more and still be in that perfect 5 to 7 range.  That’s called getting in shape.

So don’t rush it, now that you’re exercising, you’re going to be around long time.

Hey, it’s all about moving – do some now… so you can do more later.
