The Four Hour Week sounds cool. I think I’ll check it out at the library.
Two books that I’m reading right now (one I immediately downloaded off iTunes after starting the other) is:
Loving What Is by Byron Katie
and
I Need You To Love Me, Is That True? by Byron Katie.
Loving What Is opens you up to The Work or Inquiring, as the author (known as Katie) puts it. She came to the revelation 20 years ago that it’s not what happens to us that make us happy/sad/angry/upset, but rather our thoughts about what happen to us. This book already is changing my life and how I think about people.
Now I’m listening to I Need You To Love Me, Is That True, and it talks about all the things we constantly do to get acceptance. Whether we apologize when someone bumps into us, or when we put on acts of interest in hopes the other person is happy, we spend a lot of time wondering what the other person thinks of us. She calls that minding their business. There’s “you business” or what you think; “their business” and someone else’s life/thoughts/actions, and “God’s business” or whatever you have no control over (i.e. the weather, traffic, etc.). Really interesting stuff this.
