Welcome to the forums. It’s definitely true that if you make your treats yourself, you can cut out a lot of the bad stuff. For me personally, though, I’d hate to have the rest of the cake around if all I were craving was one slice. I know from long and hard experience that the rest of the cake isn’t going to stay on the counter my longer… it’s going right into my stomach! *grin*
For me, the solution is to go out and buy an individual slice or an individual (high-quality) cookie. True, there might be more calories than a slice or a cookie I’ve made myself. On the other hand, there’s probably much less calories than a whole cake or a whole batch of cookies, no matter how good I’ve been making it!
If making it yourself works for you, that’s fantastic! Especially if you can find a way to do it without the “evil leftovers.” (That’s always been my problem.) Everyone has their own way of dealing with issues. So… good job for finding yours!
