“I am a persistent, flexible, efficient woman strengthening my body, mind, & soul!”

That’s my self affirmation for this journey. Not only will I be using programs like weight crashers to strengthen my body, but also nurtritonal classes and pod cast to inform and strengthen the mind. I of course will be practicing yoga which encompasses all three with meditation. Well I heard that posting pics of your progress was a great way to stay motivated so attached is a pic for entry one. It’ll be cool to see a physical representation of my progress.

Weight Crashers Evaluation

Tuesday I went for my Weight Crasher’s evaluation. At the start of Week 7 of the here were my results:

Weight-lost 2.5 lbs
Neck-lost 0.5 in
Arm-lost 1 in
Chest-lost 0.5 in
Belly-lost 0.75 in
Hips-lost 1 in
Quad-same
Calf-lost 0.5 in

Way cool!!!  cool smile Tomorrow I need to go in and get my BMI done, I had just eaten when I went to get my measurements. The pic is from Tuesday morning; rockin’ out my Hard Rock Cafe-Washington DC Tee.

No More Soda

So before going on vacation to DC, I told myself that when I got back I was doing away with soda. I drink 1 a day for my caffine jolt, which is a lot less than I used to drink. It helps with the migraines to keep a regualted amount of caffine in me though. I’m switching from soda to Green Tea. Less calories and better for me. So in the morning instead of having my usual can of soda, I’ll have a mug of hot tea. Yesterday was my first day, I was more awake than with soda and I didn’t get a migraine cool grin

Good luck with the no soda, it’ll be interesting to see what benefits you get from that. And woohoo on the pounds and inches lost, here’s to hoping they don’t get found. wink

Made It 1 Week W/O Soda!  cool smile :

Well I’ve made it one week without soda. Wahoo! And I’ve lost another half a pound with that. So that makes 12# since the beginning of the year. I’d like to lose about 15 more give or take one. April should be a busy months with projects and professor realizing they only have 5 weeks before finals, so I’ll really have to schedule in workouts. Good thing Weight Crashers is continuing on Mondays and Wednesdays.

So the other day it was really hot and sunny, which I don’t handle too well, so I go a slushie at Sonic while I was out running errands. It was great and it cooled me down. Then when I got home I looked up the calories. 490 for a large fresh fruit slushie!!! What do they put in there?! It’s obviously more than strawberries and ice. I’m not doing that again.

In April’s SELF magazine there was this cool diet thing, although it wasn’t really dieting. It was more making sure to eat balance meals and get the right # of servings of veggies and fruits and what not. So basically a grain serving is 80 Cal; Fruits 60; Veggies 45; Dairy 100; Protien 175; Fat 45 (like nuts, margerine, salad dressing, olive oil). For Breakfast: 2 grain, 2 fruit, 2 fat; Lunch: 2 grain, 2 veggie, 1 Protien, 2 fat; Dinner: 1 grain, 3 veggie,1 protien, 2 fat; then there’e 2 snacks built in 1 dairy snack, and then a 120 Cal snack for what ever you want. I comes out to about 1600 Cal a day (1585 to be exact). I started trying it today at breakfast, I had a cup of cereal, cup of milk with it, 1.2 cup of grapes, and a cup of juice. Well no fats, but that’s okay because we had cake at work for someone’s birthday so I just slid some of those calories to my snack.  cool smirk

WooHoo on the soda and weight. BooHoo on the Sonic smoothie. They make them sound so healthy. I just found Fuze drinks at Kroger. They are really good and low in calories. And you’re looking good.

I think I have learned that, unless they come right out and tell you how many calories something has, that restaurant food will ALWAYS have way more calories than you expect. If you need to ask how many calories something served at a typical restaurant has, you probably don’t want to know!! smile

Even when you “think” you are being healthy and opt for the salmon fillet, BAM… you find out it is no better than a steak!! I made this mistake a few years back when I would eat a Quizno’s sub because I thought it was healthier than a fast food burger… I later found out it is actually WORSE!!

Don’t get me wrong… I definitely like eating at restaurants… but I know that I need to restrict those restaurant meals to the one or two times a week I allow myself the “free meals”.

Best of luck to you, Jenn… sounds like things are going well!

Well, the past 3 days have been a bust. Ate out too much and I had a soda on Sunday (migraine). Time get back on track. I haven’t had a soda since Sunday. I won’t be able to make it to aerobics today, but I’ll try and hit some weights tomorrow. Maybe I’ll try and do some jumping jacks or something at lunch. I at least parked across the highway from campus, forcing myself to walk further. Well actually there was no street parking left this morning close to campus and its cold. Might have to jog out to my car this afternoon just to keep warm enough.

I’m back into a some sorta of a routine. Love the google weight workout that I made. So in my 100 Days thread I’ve been talking about the yoga sequence I’ve made up. I’ve combine my favorite Gladualr/Hip Opener Routine with a Yoga Happiness Sequence plus some other stuff. I start off with a centering chant, some kiryas with different breathing, then a breathing exercise, a few sun salutaions variations, then into the happiness sequence with a fusion of hip openers, moving through it twice on each side, then some restoritive poses and then savasana. Its great.

This last 6 weeks of the semester are really crazy with projects, homeworks, and exams. I’m really having to schedule in my workouts. So far so good.

I didn’t really stick with the no soda once baseball season started. But I did succeed in breaking my one a day habit. Now I have maybe 1 or 2 a week. Much better. I did a really great job with that. It helps that I don’t have any at home to ruin me.

More pictures of progress soon when its not soo cold and I’m not all bundled up like a mummy. Maybe a sleeveless pic. I’ve noticed my arms are really getting toned cool smile

Woo hoo!! Go Jenn!!

Have you considered a switch to diet soda?? I know it sucks… but once you acquire a taste for diet soda it is actually pretty good! Actually, diet sodas like Pepsi One, Coke Zero, and Diet Dr. Pepper taste very much like the real thing!

I think that most of us make the switch to Diet Soda by the time we hit our mid-20’s! smile

I’ve tried with no luck. I just don’t really like the taste, too much splenda or something. I haven’t tried Diet Dr Pepper yet though. Maybe I will.

I never like diet sodas either, regular colas a my favorites but I just tried a new Pepsi diet cola that is flavored.  I think it was Diet Pepsi Strawberries & Cream.  It was really good.

I like Diet Dr. Pepper, it’s the only one that I really can’t taste the fake sugar. But if you can’t get into the taste, just keep the soda consumption under control and you’ll do great. I let myself have one treat a day to keep myself sane. If soda is your vice, then so be it.

Go Jenn Go!

Like Bree says (she is soooo wise)....if you HAVE to have a vice, the diet would be better, but water is the preferred drink of choice for me....
