The Universe reminded me of my “brag book” this morning…and showed me how to use it to attract what I want in my life:

My “brag book” is a small purse sized photo album I received at my first baby-shower.  Over the years I have collected, in this album, pictures of my children, my twin, my parents who are now gone…pictures of folks I like to “brag” about J.

This photo album eventually turned into a tool I used to keep my motivation UP.During the early days of my career, I would open this album up and lay it on my desk in front of me, just under my computer monitor. It would remind me why I was working so hard, putting in long hours to make a living to be successful and to achieve my goals…and why I must persevere – not only for me, but “for them”.  I owe my current success to the use of this tool, and now, when I have opportunity to introduce somebody to my line of work, one of the first things I say is “…get yourself a brag book…”

I recently purchased the audiobook of “The Secret” and have been listening to it during my daily commute. During the discussion on visualization, I realized that during my commute via lightrail I was surrounded with negative images, sounds, etc. I closed my eyes to visualize…but instead…I asked the Universe for a visualization method I could use in such situations…

…and it came to me…a brag book…or rather, visualization book…filled with images of what I wanted to attract into my life…a healthy body…a bigger home…a promotion…etc! Convenient in size and portability…I could take it anywhere and use it anytime…at my desk, on the lightrail, while I was in line, waiting for a meeting to begin, whenever I need to adjust my “frequency” and my attitude of gratitude!

I am really excited about this, and plan on beginning this project tonight.

Does anyone else have visualization tools/methods to share?

Tina, this is such a wonderful idea- thank you so much for sharing it with us! I have been working on a similar project-- I carry my iPod around everywhere, and it has all of my photos in it- photos of places I’ve visited, of friends and family, etc…

Well I have been looking for photos of things that inspire me like you’re talking about- things that I want to attract. I have a folder of these on my computer as well as my iPod so I can look at them anywhere. I’m also going through some of my favorite songs, trying to find my all-time favorites, songs that really inspire me and take me to a positive place- so that I can have an inspiration playlist to go along with watching the slideshow of those images.

Thanks for bringing this up, that is a great project!

I don’t use a book, but that’s a great idea.  I do however put little notes in places I see....

in addition, of course, to doing my ‘homework’ over the weekend.  I have a journal of those

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Absolutely brilliant ideas, Tina, Rachel and Tom!

I’ve kept a journal but would love to use something more portable, particularly as so much of my time is spent waiting for my boys.

For the longest time in my locker at work I had a cute picture of my son with one of his cute expressions when he wasa bout 10 month olds.  That always gave me a lift at the end of the day.

On my laptop is a sun set taken from my front pourch that keeps my spirets up also.
