I think you did the right thing by taking the night off. You’ve been really pushing it hard and I’m glad you listened to your body. Today is another day. Carpe Diem.

Of course you can, but Scott and I both stop if we’re too sore and our bodies say no. Otherwise you’ll end up not being able to do anything. That would really be bad. And I don’t do double ups very often. I may do part of my routine, but rarely do cardio twice. And lots of my cardio is the long slow burn lately. I can’t keep that high energy stuff up forever, unfortunately.

So go for it, just do it your way and you’ll be kicking butt in no time.

Thanks Bree for your words......I am now glad I took last night off from my run, it was just what my muscles needed.  Today I hit that treadmill with a new found fury!!!!  I ran 5.25 miles today....ooooh did it feel good!!!!  I find myself getting giddy just planning my next workout.....I am going to alternate days here, 1 day with lots of strength training and a short run, next day long run....and vice versa.  I figure if I mix it up a bit my body won’t get “Too used” to any particular workout.

Oh by the way, my “tight sexy jeans” are getting baggy now......better get a new pair of tight sexy jeans.

Good move on the run last night. When you are low on energy and push too hard it is real easy to get injured. There is very little benefit anyway. In the running commmunity we call them “empty miles”. Those are miles that you run just for the sake of running but don’t get anything out of because you’re so fatigued/sore that you can’t put any effort into it. It also is a lost oppurtunity to rest. You had a great workout today because you rested yesterday and that’s very cool.

I think we are about due for a picture (in the new jeans, not the old) wink

I like that concept, “empty miles,” as a good reminder that sometimes our body is telling us “not tonight, honey.” And we should listen. Congrats on bouncing back to a great workout just one day later! Question: what will you do now with those tight sexy jeans that are getting baggy? Are they still wearable as loose sexy jeans or is it time to part with them in some meaningful way?

Julie,
It’s good to push but be careful when your body says stop, stop. Yesterday I woke up and felt really burnt and lately the weights are getting very heavy, so I did’t stop, I just swam for 40 minutes. No weights, no elliptical. You’ve also started some new programs, take it easy for about a week until your body adjusts. This is a common practice in weight training, it helps to avoid injury. Good job keep on working hard!

Thanks Shawn!!!  I got up early this morning and did my Biggest Loser DVD workout, I have been really trying to get more intense in my workouts but I am glad the other night I skipped my double up-hence my speedy recovery!!  I’m an exercise addict, it is always the highlight of my day and it makes me feel so good.

I am going to do my run this afternoon, hopefully for another 60 minutes.  Heck, if I am feeling brave I may even step on the scale....who knows.

Good afternoon folks!  Ok so what if it is dreary out, I decided to burn up some calories and some frustration (hubby is home today and he is on my last nerve lol) and had another workout this afternoon.  So I already did a double up today, woo hooo!!  I have to say that since I turned up the heat on my workouts this week, I have had LOTS more energy!!  I did another 40 minutes of exercise, a bit of cardio kickboxing mixed with some body sculpting.  My thing is that when I belonged to a gym I would notice myself having several minutes between each machine....never really got my heartrate to stay up besides the treadmill/elliptical work.  Now that I workout at home I am having an easier time keeping a consistant flow to each different exercise-which is good, keeps my heartrate up.

I am thinking I may go out for a Starbucks tonight and come home for a mini-run of like 2 miles.  Since I ran over 5 yesterday I am alternating my distances...would hate to get injured.

Hope you all are having a marvelous movement day!

Oh, absolutely. My new diet is really helping in that department! I think it’s all the fiber.

LOL, sorry, couldn’t resist. But seriously, great job on the use of a workout to manage stress, I’ve found it works for me to really diffuse a situation when I feel I’m reaching my boiling point!

Well, can’t say anyone over here is full of ohh . Great job Julie! I’m also addicted, you know it’s bad when you think an hour on the elliptical beats loading the dishwasher.

"burn up some calories and some frustration “

That’s great Julie.  You know I think that’s one of the main things that has changed with me during this challenge.  I think I mentioned it to you before.  I used to go for food but now I go for exercise.  It’s amazing how it just melts away the tension.  I’ve even gone to the gym with a head ache and after working out it’s gone.

Husbands can be such a pain sometimes.  But we’re never annoying.  “-) I know what you mean though.  When they are around at a time when you usually have to yourself it’s very annoying.

Oh, you are supposed to load the dishwasher??????  I think that has been the biggest obstacle of this challenge, of when to find time to do housework.....I used to use my down time cleaning, now I workout.....sooooooo I try to get as much done as possible, but I will admit that my house isn’t as clutter-free as it once was.
