Good luck to your son with his eyes. I hope it’s not severe damage. Maybe he’ll pay more attention to protection the next time.

You sprint for 20 minutes????? Did you mean seconds?  When I was training for the 5K, I ran all out for 2 minutes and that was a stretch!

Wow!  That was wrong of me, I meant 20 meters!  Sorry about that Joan.

Day 349 and 350

I made yesterday a rest day with all the excitement that was going on.  Today, after work, I did a VERY short track workout...30 minutes of intervals and then sprinted 10 110 meter intervals.  I also had back and biceps with Mike who is having surgery next Tuesday.  He is working everyone extra hard so that we will be sore while he is out for 2 weeks.  Little does he know that I will still be bugging him by phone while he is laid up.

So now, I need to pack my lunch and get ready for another day!

I’ve done a little catching up on your thread, Lisa, sounds like you’ve been doing some incredible workouts.  You’re quite the athlete - and isn’t that a great title!  That was one of my big “clicks” early on in this process - letting yourself embrace the inner athlete.  Put your application in - you’re an athlete whether you finish first or 500th - if you’re sweating, you’re in the club.  Working out and staying consistent helps a lot with the blues, but it’s not a cure-all. I’m going through the same thing and I just keep telling myself it would be a lot worse if I wasn’t getting on the treadmill most every day.  Keep going girl, and burn that image of Chad with pom poms and a short skirt (whoops, I added that - sorry Chad) in your head.

You’re doing great!

You are absolutely right about it not mattering where I finish in this race.  I am going to do it!  I am just grateful that I can even run having just had surgery in February.

Just got home from work and am exhausted.  I cooked dinner and am determined to go do a great leg workout.  I’ll keep you posted!

Oh man, Lisa, now my heart’s pounding.  I’ve been looking at 5k applications on the web. If you do it, then I’m going to have to do it!

Day 360

Wow! I can’t believe it has been a week!  Carter is ok.  He will not be able to wear contacts for a few months and will need to take some time off from hockey. I have been doing my usual workouts.  My trainer had surgery on tuesday and will be out for 2 weeks.  It was kind of sad to train without him this week.

We are getting ready for out of town guests next week.  Carter graduates on Thursday.  I reaaly need to do a better job of posting, don’t I?

As long as you’re doing a good job of working out, the posts can wait!

Yes, it is harder without the trainer. I missed last week because we were gone and am looking forward to Monday’s session but then I’ll miss the next week because I’ll be gone again.

Day 361

I just kicked my own butt in the gym.  It was a leg workout of all my favorites...leg press, V-Squats (250 lbs for 20 reps, 3 sets!), hip ab and adduction, leg curls and extensions, ployometrics and a little bit of abs (jack knives and roll outs on a stability ball).  At the end I was wonderfully and disgustingly sweaty and found it very easy to stretch.  Now its back to work getting ready for Carter’s graduation!

Day 362 - 363

The days are just flying by!  I took rest days on Saturday and Sunday and was in the gym at 5:45 this morning doing back and biceps and a 30 minute cardio session.  I am doing a lot more free weights and supersetting everything so that I can get done and out the door to get to work in time.  Because of the graduation and out of town guests, I won’t be able to hit the track until Sunday, but I do want to get basic cardio and weights in this week.

I can also feel my weight “adjusting” a little.  Hoping to get past this little plateau so that I can go ahead and hit my goal!

It just takes a little adjustment, maybe kick it up a notch?

Day 364

The only way I can make it to the gym this week is to get up at 4:45 am and go before work.  Mike the trainer is still recuperating from surgery, so early morning really is best.  I am fine once I get there, but it is hard to get out of bed!!!

I did chest shoulders and triceps this morning and tried to do all with free weights in supersets.  I am REALLY sore right now!  It feels great!  I followed it all up with 30 minutes on the elliptical and came to work with lots of energy.  It s great once I get here!

I give you a lot of credit for getting in a workout that early.  I don’t function that early, can barely make coffee at that hour.  Good for you!
