So I am really late into getting into this topic but I will try not to bore you all!! Do you all remember the Podcast where Scott talked about daydreaming and if that is normal to do during a workout??? Well here is a confession (and please, keep your chuckles to a minimum ha ha), I listen to Collective Soul’s “Home” on my ipod, it is the live version with the Atlanta Youth Orchestra. They sing some of there old stuff and their newer songs (Better Now...is a great one). I imagine that I am at the concert......and Ed Roland is singing to me. (Insert blushing here) We all have our fantasies...and mine has a soundtrack!!!!!
I’ve been doing the same thing.....as I go through my triathlon training at the gym....first the swim....then imagine I’m at T1 (transition one) .....imagining going fast to get into my bike shoes .....hearing the crowds around me.......on the bike (at the gym).....go 15 miles or so, then to T2 and change into my running shoes quickly.....and start to run.....and then imagining the roar of the crowds as I finish my 5K........
My new favorite is “Hookie” by Back Ted N Ted. He doesn’t have an album out yet...BUT should!!!!
You can check out the song on http://myspace.com/backtednted.
While you’re there check out his remix of Imogen Heap’s “Goodnight and Go” and his “Home Game with Mike”.
If you like, you need to check out the videos you can link to from his blogs.
This might not be 140 BPMs but it’s definately good for a head bob (you can burn calories that way too can’t you?).
And good for a long slow burn.
I was thrilled the other day at the prospect of running to the runcast I’d just downloaded. I played some of it and really felt like just going. Then I had to hunt for my Ipod, and couldn’t find it anywhere. So I retraced my steps and remembered I’d put it in the center console of the car—which is now parked somewhere at Memphis International Airport and will be until late tomorrow night. No Ipod for 4 days. I walked in the park so I could at least hear the birds chirp. I’m going through withdrawal. Even considered buying a new one as a backup.
Geez...I’d be lost without my iPod. I listen to it all day. Seriously about 9 to 11 hours a day.
Work, gym, shopping, house work, laying in bed.
Did I mention I like music?
Yes, I love my shuffle! I have several playlists that I change constantly depending on my mood. I’ve been thinking about getting a full size iPod that I can watch videos on as well as listen to music. Maybe when I win that next Mega Million......
I love my ipod, I don’t think I could do a workout with it!! I want one of those video Ipods but am afraid they are too big, plus I don’t know if I could even handle watching a video on it during a workout-all that bouncing, and movement would make me sick!
I too love my Ipod and have been without it for the last 6 months. I have a 20GB Ipod and the hard drive on it died. My advice to those considering an ipod that is 30GB or higher buy the extended Apple warranty, it is well worth the money. The extra warranty costs $39 and gives you a 2 year warratny on your ipod. The cost for me to replace my hard drive on my ipod will cost me about $120 going through Apple or $50 going through ebay to get the part only. Since the 20GB and higher have a small hard drive built into them they may experience problems. I took really good care of mine, treated it like a baby, and it still gave me problems. Consider the Ipod shuffle or Ipod nano for excersing since they have what is called “Flash memory” built into them. Unlike a hard drive which has moving parts, flash memory does not and so is more durable during your workout. I am a computer geek who loves the ipod and unfortunately cannot replace mine at this point in time.
I give you this advice so you can avoid the problems I am having. This is not meant to scare anyone. I love the ipod alot and think it it one of the greatest devices. I just want you to avoid the problems I am having. Had I bought the warranty it would have paid for itself and then some. Hope this nugget of advice helps for what it is worth.
I have the video iPod I clip to my shorts (i use an iPod holder with a clip-Best Buy) when working out.....no problem with size....plus to make me even a geekier tech geek, I have wireless headphones (http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details.jsp?globalObjectId=177) ....which is very cool.....I’ve had them for about a year and a half.....
and now they are making the headphones even smaller.....(http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/details.jsp?globalObjectId=177). You still have to have a bluetooth ‘dongle’ which the earphones ‘talk’ to, but the next iPod will be bluetooth compatable (to keep up with Zune) so that is what I’m saving up for..... (and you can even use them with your bluetooth cell phone!)
Hey, I’ll be selling my ‘old’ 30 gig Video iPod and headphones when I get the new one and the wireless headphone to match… (Apple has not announced anything yet, but it’s coming!) to help pay for the bluetooth iPod and new headphone (since I can’t get the iPhone for another year!)
Bluetooth Headphones?!!? Holy moly!!! What a great idea, I always hate untangling mine.....thanks for all this info on iPods, I have had a few charging issues with my Nano but really can’t complain too much, the positives outweigh the negatives. What did we ever do without ipods anyways? I remember carrying around my bulky Sports Discman thinking that was the coolest invention ever.....oh how times have changed!!!
