We all know how good it feels when we get all of our water in. Our body burns fat more efficiently and our metabolism zooms since a molecule of water is neccessary for just about every chemical reaction that takes place in the body. So for the next 30 days I’m going to drink my 8 glasses of water. Please join in...give us some tips if you have them. Personally I like to make 8 boxes and check them off in my journal everyday. I’ve been sliding lately. Not even making the boxes. So here we go together. Please join in.

I’m in.

Although, I’m not starting out very well. It’s almost 4 in the afternoon, and I’ve only had 2 cups of water. I’ve been managing 6 most of this week, but not today.

One thing I learned from the last water challenge is to remember to start early. It’s much easier for me if I get up and drink a big glass of water right away. And I also figured out that if I’m feeling bad, whether sick or blue, drinking water is the first to suffer.

So, I will try to drink several more glasses today and will start in earnest tomorrow!

I drink 16 ounces every morning, eat my vitamins, get ready for the gym, eat a light breakfast and take off

During exercises I drink 24 ounces, and then 24 on the way to work....after the gym

At work I drink 2-3 more 24 ounces, then one on the way home.....

I don’t drink a lot in the evening (except the wine… tongue wink )

If I exercise more, I’ll drink a little more......

I always have a bottle water with me......

If I don’t that much water on a particular day, my weight goes down (water weight), but it all equalizes out the next day.

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Count me in, I usually don’t have a problem getting all my water, but with the upcoming travel I will definitely need the incentive.

I didn’t do very well today. I’ll start with you tomorrow Deb. I drank about 4 cups today, and then someone threw my water bottle out at work and I just didn’t get to it. This is how I fail so tomorrow, like clock work I will start early too.

I only got in 4 cups yesterday.

Today I did better, but still not great. I drank 7 cups today. Six is a lot easier than 8 for me. I can just drink 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, and 2 in the evening. But I have a tough time fitting in those last 2 cups.

Tomorrow I’ll get them all in. I thrive on all this accountability!

I keep extra ‘sports top’ waters in my office, just in case my water bottle is misplaced by someone......

It helps me to keep drinking.  Someone in my office today (at the Christmas office party) said that they have never seen me without water in my hand......I guess that is a good thing?

Count me in , please!  But ounces?  What are ounces of water?!  Ounces to me weigh solids, not liquids… An ounce of chocolate, an ounce of Christmas pud… tongue rolleye Here on the other side of the Pond we work in pints or litres.  My intent is to drink 2 litres of water per day.  I usually manage to drink 1 to 1.5 litres, by carrying around a 0.5 litre bottle everywhere and, like you Tom, keeping one on my desk.  But 2 litres is recommended so.....

Cheers everyone!  Here’s to clear pee

2 liters equals 67.6 ounces. I need to get at least 64 ounces, also equal to 8 cups. So we’re shooting for the same amount, approximately. I wish we did more in metric, it is so much easier.

Thanks for the conversion, Bree.  I figured it’d be about the same amount…

Day one...I got 8 cups of water in, I made little boxes and checked them off. I ended up with one box at the end of the night and drank it up just before bed.  I have a hard time hanging on to a water bottle at work because I get sent to different places in the ER I can’t carry it around and I’m not supposed to have it on the floor so I hide it in the med room. But then I get sent out to triage in the front and can’t access it. I turn my back on it for a minute and it gets thrown away. The nurse thought I had left the floor and didn’t take it with me. So I’m to the point I use water bottles over because I would lose a sports bottle. I’ll figure it out. I’m determined. Here’s to clear pee....always a good thing in my book.

Day 2

I didn’t do as well as I’d planned. I ended the day with 5 cups of water. I was bummed and the water just wouldn’t go down. But tomorrow is another day, a fresh start, and I will endeavor to do better. That’s what’s great about tomorrow - it’s always a new beginning.

Day 2...you did better than me Deb. I only drank three if that. I’ve got to get on board. I’m having trouble with life getting in the way. Christmas and the changing of my routine is really messing me up. I’m losing momentum. I’ve got to get back on track.

Day 1: drank 2 litres and more, but of course I ended up running to the bathroom all day....  Most of my water drinking gets done at work, after 5pm, so I end up drinking alot in a short space of time.  Today I’ve drunk 0.5 l already and it’s only breakfast time.  Let’s see if starting earlier means I can spin it out a bit and not be constantly needing to go!
