It’s so lovely to hear that your honeymoon went well, you truly deserved that!

Is it possible to have jet lag without having flown? I finally feel completely normal (well, for me) today. Sorry if I’ve been distant, that trip just wiped me out, and re-energized me at the same time. The energy was time delayed. tongue wink

Grandma is still doing about the same. Mom just told me she extended her leave to the full 12 weeks allowed. And they’re putting Grandma on the waiting list for the Hospice Home.

I’m having the battle of the wills with Mouse today. Her room has been dreadful for months. She refuses to clean it. Skeeter’s helped me out in there so it can get vacuumed once in a while, but it goes right back to horrid. So now the deal is no pool until the room is clean. All she has to do is throw everything into bins. We’re on day 2. Hubby went back to work today, so she thought she could guilt me into letting her out of it. I hate being mean, but this is a lesson that has to be learned. And she just told me she hates me. I must be doing something right.

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Stand firm Bree.  She needs to learn the rules and if you back down now she won’t respect your authouity next time.  I wouldn’t accept her saying she hates you either.  Talk to her and let her know you still love her no matter what, you just don’t like the behaviour.

Take a deep breath and know you are doing the right thing.

We are off to the pool today! Just waiting until 2, then we’re not in so much direct sun. And the crowd thins out after 5, its a ton of fun to have the pool almost to ourselves. Then I can actually swim.

How about you, how’s your swimming coming?

I can totally relate to having the pool to yourselves.  I have mediated between many patrons when the pool gets crowded and people get upset when they get splashed… you’re at a pool people!!  And trying to swim is so much easier when you don’t have to dodge the kids doing cannon balls!

Had swim practice last night.  Only 2.4 km.  Want to pass the 3 k mark in a practice soon!!  Haven’t noticed an improvement in speed yet, still about 1 min/ 50 m but that was at the end of practice.

Bree, I just caught up with your journal. Glad you were able to get away, you deserved it.  The funny thing about when you stand firm and make your kid do something, even if there’s a tantrum, there’s generally a big rainbow after the storm, and a clean room is its own reward, but I bet her little tail was waggin’ over having done it.  Not that I have kids, but it’s funny to observe… and remember.

She was very proud. And made her bed first thing in the morning. She even made her sister pick up after herself when they were done playing! Granted, most of her toys are in those huge rubbermade tubs in the closet, but what she does have out is going right back to where it belongs. I need to sort through the rest of the stuff and do some major purging.

Bree

Catherine- I’m happy with myself when I go for 600 m! You are kicking it hard, way to go!!!

Hey Bree, I guess I missed something. I’m reading about a honeymoon? I didn’t even know you were available. What happened to the guy who bottled his own beer?

Hey Kevin! It was my second honeymoon. We just celebrated 10 years. Can you imagine someone actually putting up with me for 10 years? I should have him evaluated. cheese
