Hi Everyone,

I hope I’m doing this right. I want to start a challenge to write EVERY BITE that goes in my body for the next five days. I will be using a online food diary to help me along. Since I’m on vacation this week I thought it would give me a great start to developing the habit of intentional eating. I sometimes eat mindlessly and have no idea of why. So they say a habit is developed after 20 times of doing something. This way I’ll break it down into smaller goals. I also want to make sure I’m getting my 5 fruits and veggies a day, and at least 3 servings of dairy for my bones, 8 glasses of H2O(I drink too much diet pepsi), and 1 multi vitamin. I hope this is an O.K. challenge.

Challenge:
Write every bite in a food dairy
Eat 5 fruits and veggies a day
3 servings of dairy
8 glasses of water a day
Take a multi vitamin

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Sounds good...I keep a food journal and I notice that when I do I have the best results. I pretty much do it all of the time now. It has become a habit.

the food journal i use is http://www.fitday.com

It’s free and easy and you can use it on the web anywhere!

you can track your exercise, weight, where your calories are coming from (fat, protien, carbs etc)…

It’s almost scary when you look back on it…

You can even use it to plan meals, staying within a certain calorie intake.

Well I completed my journal yesterday and today. Yesterday I was a little above my calorie count and today I was under so I guess it evens out. Hey Tom I hope I too will be able to look back and say “Wow” that was scary!LOL

Denise I hope all is well with you. Let me know how your journaling is going.

Well yesterday did not go so well. I got so busy I did not get all my veggies in nor did I drink all my water. I did journal everything and the proof was right in front of me that this is a major challenge for me. I am frustrated because this is an ongoing issue with me. If anyone has an idea or what works for them I would appreciate it.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Six months ago I started a food journal and was shocked to see what and how much I shoved into my body. I decided to change that and make pretty much the same choices your currently making. It was so hard. The first month I rarely got all my water and usually only had 1 serving of fruits and 1 of veggies. I was so angry with myself. But my hubby pointed out that I really had come a long way towards what I wanted to be doing. It was such a change I couldn’t make it all at once.

Just keep at it, you’ll do great.

Thanks Bree for bring me some much needed perspective. My DH keeps asking who am I, and where is his wife!! LOL  The changes I have made are many so I’ll keep moving towards my future success.

Today I logged every bite, got my vitamin, 4 fruits and veggies, 3 dairies, and 4 waters. So much better today than yesterday!

Today was a good day. I got everything logged, stayed at my point count, did all my water, veggies and fruits, dairy, and 1 vitamin. Yahoo!

I treated my self to a new pair of pants and a new shirt (which were one size smaller)! cheese I’ll hold off on any other clothes until after Christmas, and hopefully I drop one more size!

Good job .....You remind me, I have to get the water in. Funny how that slides if you don’t keep on top of it. New clothes how wonderful that sounds...ahhhh!

I’m getting into making sure I log my food, but i’m still working on the water. My skin has improved since I started eating my fruits and veggies. Plus I have stayed out of the Fast Food joints. I’m saving what I would have spent each day on junk and I have decided to spend that on gettting the daily boost with Scott. YEAH!! Being accountable to you all is pushing me in the right direction.

Thanks Everyone

It’s is funny how you start out with a goal, and you end up with so many side benefits!

Keep living healthy, and over the long run, you will be very happy for it!

Keep up the great work!

Getting back to work today was a challenge. Did not log my food, but did get most of the H2O, got fruits and veggies, vitamin etc. Struggling with migraines the last few days. I used to have 6- 7 a month and now have it down to half that. I think the lack of sleep is acting as a trigger. So tomorrow I have the day off, what a blessing, than I need to plan my menu for the rest of my work week.

My heart goes out ot you ....migraines can be so debilitating. You have to live your life around them. On the other hand it sounds like you have things under control I love reading that you are planning, a major key to success. You are drinking your water and eating your fruits and veggies. Good job.

My migraines are just a fact of life and I am proud of the progress I have made in controling the frequency of the attacks. Thanks Denise for the kind words of encouragement. One of the side benefits of logging my food is finding and eliminating food triggers from my diet.

Logging my food is becoming easier. Even if I have to catch it up at night I’m doing it. I started carrying a pad with me to work and writing what I have while on shift.  I also decided to get 2 glasses of H2O in before work and that helps. Denise planning is really going to be a priority for me. Since we don’t have meal periods I have to pack things I can eat quickly and that don’t take up much space.

I think I’ll take Scott’s advice and use Sundays as my “Plan of Attack Day” and map out my week. The family has been supportive of my in way of grocery shopping and home cooking so that makes things so much easier.
