Denise,

I imagine the icon is the new improved ME. Moving my body and loving it LOL LOL I also tend to get hungary in the evening. I had heard that if you are going to sleep at about 9p, that you shouldn’t eat after 7. But I am still feeling hunger even though I’ve eaten a balanced meal. I just don’t get why. I see you are eating protein and that is helping you. Can I ask what kind, how much, etc. I wonder if something like that would work for me.  Keep at it you are doing great in making the changes YOU want for yourself.  smile

Day 17....I went to bed at 8pm last night so it was an easy night for me.

Patricia...My third meal of the day when I work is at 11:30pm and it subsists of about 3oz of chicken (or the size of the palm of my hand), and a cup of broccoli or something comparable. If I have carbs they are complex. Scott said it takes about 2.5 hours to digest, since I’m going to bed at 3am I don’t have a tummy full of food on board. It’s working to decrease my appetite and keep things under control.

Denise cool smile

Day 15, woo hoo!  Did well today… I had to, to make up for yesterday’s 1000 calorie M&M;crash-and-burn big surprise

How are you doing, Denise, are you feeling like it has become a habit?  It has for me, very quickly and easily but another challenge comes next week when I return to the UK and have a heavy week’s work in London.  New routine etc etc.  Still, I know it is coming and can plan ahead.

‘night

Day 18 and 19.....No eating after 9pm even though I’ve been sick I’m sticking to my routine.

Yes Gecko, it does feel like it’s getting to be a habit. The support I get from having a buddy to do it with has been helpful too, thank you. It has been easier than I thought it would be. You will do fine when you return to England I have faith in you. Keep up the good work.

Day 16.  Eating has been a bit screwed today.  Had lunch very late which meant I wasn’t hungry by dinner time.  So now, after work, I’m hungry.  Ah well… I guess as long as I eat something healthy it won’t do much harm, provided it doesn’t slip back into a regular habit!

Sorry to hear you’ve been sick, Denise.  Are you okay now?

Day 20.... no night eating. Hey there Gecko. Sounds like you have a working plan. Keep up the good work.

It was a virus that just knocked me out. It took all my strength. Everytime I start feeling better I do too much and I feel worse. So I’m not doing a whole lot of exercise. I have to work for the next 3 days and that will take all of my strength. Last night I went out to do a little Christmas shopping for a couple of hours and came back exhausted and huffing and puffing when I had to climb the stairs. Usually I run up the 20 stairs to my house. I live on a mountainside. It just solidifies the importance of health. I think I’ll do some Yoga or Taichi today. Just taking it slow. Have a great day.

Denise I am grinning from ear to ear after reading your last 2 post. WAY TO GO! LOL  I know you are still on track and you are inspiring me to keep at it. One change leads to another and then they aren’t so hard in the end. I found the NLP podcasts and love them. The visualization meditation is a definite plus for me. I’m now doing it each night before following asleep.

Thanks for the tip!!!

Day 21....No night eating again. I think I might have this down to a science. I’m still bringing my 11:30pm meal to work tomorrow. I can’t mess with perfection. It works. Yeah Scott, you are my Hero!!

Don’t give up now Gecko.....you have the solution just plan it out. You go girl.

Patricia...you are always so enthusiastic. Thanks for being you and have a great weekend.

It was a cozy day for a fire in the wood stove.

Day 18, and no Night Eating for me either cheese  My my, how the days are flying by.  Only another 10 days for you Denise, and 13 for me.  Think we can do it ?  Ha Ha Ha No question, eh?

Well, I go home in 2 days.  I’ll miss Paris - especially those drool-inducing food markets - but I’ll be glad to have more accessible cooking facilities!  And, I’ll find out if my weight has changed in the last month.  There should be a spangly new Omron Body Fat Measurer too, waiting on the doormat.
Lots of new ideas and new tools.

Thanks for that link to the NLP podcast.  I had a friend once (note the past tense) who had studied NLP and who kept practising it on me in such a blatantly obvious way that I just felt like I was being manipulated.  Have had a bit of an anti-NLP thing since.  But, I guess it’s a tool like any other and worth looking at for what it might offer.  It’ll be fun to try.

Have a great weekend!

Day 22...Saturday I did pretty good till the last hour of the night and fell prey to the Cheerios. I stopped at one bowl with non fat milk.  I was feeling physically weak at work, not up to par for treking around for 8 hours, and almost didn’t make it through the night. I got really shakey. I ate my 11:30 chicken and peas but I think it was more emotional when I came home and hit the Cheerios, comfort food. I’ll do better tomorrow.

Day 23...I did better tonight. No cravings ate my late meal and I felt so much better at work. Back to normal finally.

Hey girls....Hope you are all doing well. There is greatness in the future for all of us.

Gecko...I’m getting that Omron body fat machine for Christmas. I asked my daughter for it and I know she got it. I can’t wait.

Here’s a pretty flower for you .... http://static.flickr.com/48/164056666_21b37b9b9b_b.jpg

Hi Patricia, thanks for your support!  It’s kind of odd to think that people other than Denise and I are reading this but I guess that’s what the forum’s about, right?!  We all have issues of one kind or another, and I’m enjoying being able to deal with at least one of mine here… How about you?  Care to share some demons?

Hey Denise, I’m glad to hear you are over the virus.  They can hang around a loooong time - even if you feel ‘well’, you don’t necessarily have the energy to do all of your normal stuff.
Yeah, the Omron gizmo looks cool doesn’t it.  I like the motivation of weighing myself each morning but a set of scales takes up rather alot of space in a suitcase LOL  The BFM looks nice and portable and, in any case, I am more interested in my body fat level than my weight.  I may be the heaviest I’ve ever been right now but I am not the ‘fatest’.  Go figure.  It’s nice to know I’ve put on at least some muscle somewhere along the line.  But it means that I also don’t know what target weight to set.  I’ve been 9.5 stone most of my adult life - 133lbs to you Americans! - but would probably be more than that now at the same body fat level.  Anyway, I am aiming to come down from 32 percent to 25 percent and see how that feels.

Have a great day!

Day 24...Just got home from work and headed to bed in awhile. No cravings and this is a miracle. I’m still amazed night after night to think I was on that merry-go-round of gorging myself at night due to being over tired and stressed from a night in the ER I’m sure.  Instead, I had my little meal. A bit of turkey burger with onions, broccoli, and mushrooms stir fried with a little olive oil with rosemary. Very tasty and just enough to be a light meal at 11:30 pm.

Have a great day everyone.

Denise.

Day 22 already!  Haven’t posted for a couple of days as life has been manic, returning to the UK and getting everything organised here.  I’ve done nothing but work - even eating has taken a back seat.  I stocked up on bananas and soyamilk, knowing that this would happen… Still managed to get to Circuit training on Monday night, and get a long jog in early Tuesday grin It was really good to see all the guys at the Circuit class again.

Haven’t been eating late at night though!  I’m happy to have changed that behaviour, and relatively easily too.  What day are you at, Denise?  You should be down to your last 4 or 5 days.  Time to be thinking of another challenge!  Mine is going to be to UP my calorie intake to 1800 a day (Scott’s advice), and it’s going to be a tough one.  I’m really really REALLY comfortable at the 1400 mark and find it difficult to force down enough another 400.  Maybe will go down the shake/smoothie route.  As long as they are homemade, they shouldn’t have too many nasties in them.

Anyway, am still at work, so I’d better go!

Have a great day!
