Long time listener - first time poster smile

I’ve been listening for a while now and I’m looking forward to seeing what the forums become.  Should be interesting.

So a bit about myself - I’m a 32 year old System Admin in Huntsville, AL.  Unfortunately sitting at a desk all day every day for the last seven or eight years has taken its toll on my body and I don’t like what I have become.

A few years ago I did Atkins (correctly by the book) for about 11 months and lost about 80 lbs but I went off of it for a while and all of it came back with some friends along.

My wife and I are expecting our first child in July and I’m using this as my motivation to turn my life around.  I know I’m going to need a lot of energy to keep up with a young one and I know that any unhealthy eating habits I have - I will pass along if I don’t change them now.

I read “Body for Life” a while ago and while it seemed good and I’m sure it would work, I couldn’t see sticking with that eating plan for the rest of my life.  So I am doing a modified version of it - Essentially doing the daily exercise and eating smaller, healthier meals more frequently.

So far it seems to be working well as I am down almost ten pounds and the exercise is really helping my spirit a good bit.

So Scott thanks for the podcast for the additional motivation to wake up first thing in the morning and hit the workout and a bit Hi to everyone reading this.

Hi Zathras!

Looks like we have a lot of techies out here in MTM-land.

Congratulations on the up and coming baby in July! How exciting!

I just wanted to say that you have the right attitude. You’re not only doing this for yourself but your family as well. Those buggers have the tendency to take every last bit of energy out of you. I know when I was 75+ pounds heavier I couldn’t possibly live the life I have with my kids now.

You should be proud – you’re on your way!

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Stuart or Stu (hence the Stooooo).  I am 5’10” and when I started to change my life around (of course with the help of my amazing wife Allie) I weighed in at 272 pounds.  This was right before Thanksgiving.  Fast forward a few months and I am now weighing in at 252 pounds.

For me I have been trying to lose weight for years.  I have tried the low carb diet, weight watchers, as well as a few other fad diets.  Nothing ever really seemed to work.  Sure I lose weight, but I would immediately put it back on.  It finally all clicked when I was watching The Biggest Loser.  I think it was that I really identified with the winner Matt.  He was built very similarly to me.  After seeing how much he lost and how good he looked when he was done.  It hit me that if he could it, then so could I.

I am really looking forward to sharing my experiences, and learning from everyone here.  Please visit my blog to learn a little more about me and what exactly I have been experiencing.

All the best,
Stu
