Yep, that guy. What’s he gonna do when he hears your time. ‘Cuz he’s not competitive either.  rolleyes

You sound like you could fly right now, Tom.

my buddy finished the race in 20:40....the winner in 13:20 (just amazing)…

so I consider myself slow....

Talked to this guy in my gym this morning (he had a Carlsbad 5000 t shirt on) and he is a little out of shape.....(I’m not judging, just an observation)....he said he finished in 18:50......(that kind of made me feel really slow) until he told me he has been running his WHOLE life....has done marathons, and is just getting back in shape after a 5 year ‘backslide into unfitness’.....(so I felt better).

I wonder if the GURU can catch me....hmmm do I hear a challenge?

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

I havn’t posted here in a bit, so I’d thought I’d give you an update..

I’m doing the Encinitas 2XU sprint Triathlon in two weeks.....I have been doing a 7 week training routine, that has been adding intensity and with longer durations each week...the last week before the race is a ‘taper’ week, where you still workout, just with much less intensity.

I bought a new wetsuit and have been in the ocean a couple of times, so far.

I feel confident, and know that I will do well, but the transitions (going from when you take off your wetsuit and put on your bike shoes and helmet etc, then from your bike to the run part of the race) are the areas I will concentrate on over the next two weeks (practice getting off my bike and putting on my tennis shoes in the garage everyday

I bought racing flats last week-VERY lite

Realizing that this journey is a great lesson for me....shows me how much I can do, once I put my mind to it....and the journey is morphing, as I find myself thinking....’maybe i could do an ‘olympic’ distance Tri?’......(twice as far), a Century ride? (100 mile bike ride) or maybe a half marathon..... who knows where the road will lead.....

but I’m having a blast along the way.....

I really appreciate all the support from the community here at MTM....In reality, I don’t know you guys, except for our threads, but feel close to you on many levels....so thank you!

It’s a couple of days away from the tri.....very excited....wondering how i will do on the swim....the transitions from bike to run.......

this tri is just a ‘practice one’....for the Carlsbad one in July (still just a spring tri).....I’m thinking of maybe trying a olympic distance (that’s 1 mile swim, 50k bike (about 30 miles) and a 10 k run).....just to see if i can do it....

but i’ll get through these two first…

its fun just training....learning....

How exciting and you have a great attitude.  I love it when you start to approach one goal, how the next just seems to show up.
