Mahalo Anne Marie....

I’ll check out the podcast!

I used to live on the Big Island (North Kohala side) back in the early 90’s.....miss it!

Keep those posts coming from Hawaii....where abouts?…

Do you want to submit a name for my bike.... (I know, kind of silly, but that’s me!)

Mahalo!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Checked out your Fuji bike picture.  The black and white made me think of a killer whale.  Imagine riding one of those!!! Know any good whale names?

The name ‘Shamu’ (the Killer whale at Sea World) reminds me of my daughter’s stuffed animal when she was a little girl....so for me, that name brings back a connotation of playing with stuffed animals ....... not the ‘fast - sleek - go for it’ feeling I was looking for in a name....(LOL) LOL

But that’s not a bad idea.....maybe ‘Mako’ (as in the shark!) or Killer (like the whale)....

for now though..... her name is still Fuji......I think she’s beginning to like the name smile

I’ll have to take another picture of her......putting the ‘aero bars’ (the ones you lean on when in a tuck while racing), makes her look even FASTER!  LOL....

Having fun with this.....thanks for your ideas....

Any more?

Hi Tom,

I’ve got a couple for you from ‘Down-under’. These are Aboriginal words, coming from different areas of the country.

Nala - flame of fire
Barra-gi - to fly

I like Nala......easy to say....if I tell people, they’ll have to ask........what does that mean.....which opens up the door to explain..............

Thanks Fi! great names!

Fi - Nala is a great name.  It certainly fits the fire within Tom.

Hi Tom -

I stumbled across a blog that might be of interest to you and Fuji.  Even bitter cold and snow doesn’t slow down Alaska’s determined bicycle racers… http://arcticglass.blogspot.com/

Okay, so I haven’t posted on my journey page for awhile.....

Here’s my latest

first a look at my cool bike

http://www.fujibikes.com/2006/bikes.asp?id=122

Still soliciting names, but I’m really getting used to ‘Fuji’

I’ve been focusing ALL my workouts on the Tri.....either the run, swim or bike....or transitions

On Sunday, I got a little worried, because after doing the bike, my legs would not run!....my breathing was okay, but my legs!!!

So I know I need to do more training.....real world, and sign up for another Tri......(before the one in my hometown of Carlsbad)

I’m going to do a 5K on April 1.....(no really, no April fools here)......

Fuji is in the shop for her first check up....hope to get her back by tomorrow!

Feeling strong on my workouts....but races are different, so I’m going to push to go a little faster now.....swimming is my slowest.....and my bike feels strong.....

My wieght is around 154 (between 150-154)....want to be at 150 for the race..... (or a little lighter), but leaner.....okay less cheese and wine....that’s my new commitment.... (oh no, i said it OUTLOUD!)

Through this journey, I’m having a blast....learning, and feeling stronger…

Thanks for all the support in the 100 days!~

That’s a pretty slick ride you have there Tom. I liked Laura’s suggestion of Fugisan, but when you address your bike, you have to bow to it. winkIMHO, the bike has to earn it’s name, and that only happens with time. Frankly, Fuji works for me.

A new chapter in my journey to a ‘sprint Tri’

Running outside more, now that it’s daylight saving’s time....(YEAH!)

Have to build up my endurance in the water, so will do 1500 yards....and work on the speed once during each 500 yard leg…

Listening to ‘zen art of triathlon’ podcast (and a few others), I am going to try doing longer rides, at a lower heartrate....."building the base”......everyone I talk to says this actually makes you FASTER, training slower but longer.....

That’s it for now.....If I get home from work tomorrow early enough, I’m taking ‘Fuji’ out for a spin…
