It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Now that it has been a couple days...any thoughts of doing an ironman?

Yes, it is asking alot out of a spouse. My husband rides with me so that helps, still it took him over a year to agree to me doing and IM.

Right now I am training for IM Florida which will be 11/1. It will be my first IM. In February I started working with a coach. I wrote about it here: http://www.enduranceandencouragement.com/Coaches.htm

What has been the most interesting so far is working with heart rate zones and the training is all set up by time/not miles. Although I still track time on my own because that is how I always did it.

In the back of my mind IM Arizona is very appealing now that they moved the race to November...that would probably be the closest m.dot one to you right?

Yes Donna, AZ IM would be the closest....

I looked at the elevation for the bike/run on the Florida and AZ and both look much flatter than what I just finished@!

You’re going to do great!, espeically starting your training so early!

I’m excited for you and can’t wait to hear the progress.

Are you getting a IM tatoo?

I am not a tatoo person, but if I were that would be the only one I would want-right on my ankle. Does your wife swim, bike or run? It is asking alot of them to put up with all the training. If you decide to do Arizona in 09 I might be there too. If I have problems in Florida, or if I like it so much I want to do another Arizona is next on the list now that they moved it to November.

my wife thinks that what I do is a little nuts… she works a physical job at a nursery (with plants), and doesn’t see the need for stressing your body any more than you have too....

I have asked her to join me in a swim, or a short ride, or even a jog, but that is just not her thing....

Her support is letting me take the time away from her (like i said, she thinks I’m a little crazy!)....

Arizona sounds like a great race (I’ve heard some great things about the staff, race organizers etc...) 26 miles right now seems like a challenge, although the swim and the bike seem do-able....  We’ll have to wait and see…
