Okay....so on October 20th, after watching this guy who is doing 50 marathons in 50 days (incredible!) I decided that putting a challenge before me of a measly little triathlon would be easy.
I’m researching road bikes, and started to do swimming at the gym.....
Also got the race course and will start to similate the race from time to time.
The triathlon does not happen until July ‘07, so the training should be a steady, methodical one.
I’m open to any suggestions, advise, support etc along the way....
I’ll post on here to any updates....(problably on the 100 days post too)
I’m nursing my Peroneus Tendonitus as I train for the Disney Marathon this January and can tell you from blockheaded experience - don’t train too hard or too fast. Follow the 10% rule… do not increase your distance, speed or endurance time more than 10% from the week before. Take your time and let your body “creep” into optimal performance. I learned the hard way… but I guess that was the way I was finally going to understand WHY you shouldn’t break this golden rule.

I want to start doing each part of the triathalon .....so i get used to what each feels like....The ocean swim will be the toughest .......(as we go through winter)......so I’ll start in the pool ....I won’t do 1000 meters at first....the 10% rule sounds very good....
I want to run(swim and bike) the course all the way through a couple of times before the real race too…
I am going to to 1000 meters in the pool at least once a week for now......
I’m already doing 3+ miles on the treadmill, elliptical, and stairmaster every other day....
My next thing to add is the ‘road’ bike .....it’s going to be Sunday morning......16 miles plus.....
Every once in a while, I’ll take a liesurely ride to the start position of the race (25K- 16 miles) then do it all....and test my speed occasionally....
by March I want to swim bike and run the course at least every three weeks or so....
Endurance......it’s actually a great word....has all sorts of applications in our lives!

Everyday is a stuggle to do what I want to do… I don’t feel like I’m in good enough shape.....but I WILL get to do this Triathlon!..... and have fun training, seeing myself transform to what I know deep inside I can do.
It’s really a mentality.....how you see yourself......
I see people riding (road bikes) and think....I can do that!....i just have to keep going forward!
I admire you for taking on a challenge such as a triathlon! I am a 50 year old wife, and mom of 3. I have a brother and a sister that have MS. I have done 2 MS Challenge walks (50 miles in 3 days) and multiple 10 mile walks for the cause. My sister is my inspiration. She has MS and did the 50 mile walk with us (all 4 sisters). She had also done a triathlon. She said you always need to have a challenge that you are working towards. When you finish one, start planning your next one. It keeps you motivated. So last March I decided to do a (sprint) triathlon. I trained myself and wasn’t able to do very much swimming to prepare. The triathlon was in Denver (I’m from Pennsylvania) so I had the altitude to prepare for also. I was just happy as a lark to be able to finish the race. It was for Breast Cancer and there were 3500 women participating. It was an exciting feeling to be able to finish that race.
I know that you will do great and it sounds like you are focused on your goals. I will be following your journey. Keep us posted!

Okay, so every week, I’m going to do one part of the triathlon (on each separate days).....Wednesday, will be a Run (5K).....Thursday will be a 1K swim.........Saturday with spin class......25K ......and some time on the bike on the road.........probably Sunday..........
then once a month.....do the whole triathlon....(slow at first)............
Just wanted to tell you thanks for all your encouragement and support in this forum. Good luck with your triathalon. It’s always easier for me to workout when I have a specific goal or plan in mind.
