Hey Summer,

Kai is the lady from Alaska right?  I wonder if there will be updates of the 36 that did"nt make it into the house?  I read somewhere that some folks thought it was cruel not having all 50 contestants in the house, but really how could you?  There are only so many weeks the show is aired.  Did you notice that Bob mentioned that the final contestants would be in the house for 100 days?  That sounds familiar!

Even though Jen (MN) got voted off the first week, I was still impressed with the amount she lost at home (58lbs).

BTW nbc.com has video of the season premiere.

Yep, Kai’s the one from Alaska!  I hope they do update about the ones that are back in their home states.  Seems like they would, to keep it in the back of the audience’s collective mind.

And yes, me too about Jen!  I’m always way impressed when they go home and keep going.  After being sent home it can’t be easy.  Good for her!

I love love love this show! I would really like to see the behind the scenes version of Biggest Loser *chuckle* wink

You can read up on the 36 contestants on NBC’s web site (middle of the page) at: http://www.nbc.com/The_Biggest_Loser/

I’m not sure what I think of Kim yet....I liked the militaristic style of Jillian. Quite honestly Kim has some big shoes to fill. I was also not happy with the way the 36 other contestants were treated but maybe there is more in store we do not know yet???

Is it me or are any of you not happy with the way the final winner is picked (by fat % lost)? Seems to me a guy will always win with the incredible amount of weight they have to lose in comparison to a female. I know that is a hot topic among people saying points to both sides.

Yeah BIGGEST LOSER!!!

I’m interested to see how I wind up liking Kim.  Jillian’s style was definitely not mine, and she had a tendency to grate on my nerves a little.  I did wind up liking her alright at the end, though.  This season it’s Bob that’s kind of bugging me!  Man, I just can’t be pleased. wink Well, we’re just one episode in, so we’ll see.  smile

I’ve wondered about whether fat % lost is fair or not, but I don’t totally understand all of what might go into that, and also don’t have any better ideas, so I don’t have a lot of room to argue with it.

As long as we’re on the subject of The Biggest Loser, has anybody tried the workout?  I downloaded it on iTunes when I first got my new computer, but I’ve yet to try it.  (WIMP. wink ) I was watching the “Low intensity” one last night to see if I thought I could tackle it (I’ve read a review or two that said the beginner’s workout isn’t necessarily for beginners, and I agree a little.) and I think now I could, with modifying a couple of the moves.  I’m not sure that I’d make it through the whole thing, but I might try it one of these days and find out!

SHHHH!!!! The US Biggest Loser doesn’t start in Australia until Oct. 2.  zipper

I have the BL workout video & I use it with some modification of a couple of the moves that my knees don’t like. It’s not too bad, but it IS a good workout. On my really off days, I just do the warmup & the stretching routines.

I’m not sure how I’m going to like the new miss RAHRAH trainer, either. We saw a softer side to Jillian here on the Aussie version of the show.

BTW—Jillian has a weekly podcast.

I know that you can train “virtually” with Bob Harper through PUSH.TV. I used this custom DVD program to burn my first 20 and it was great. I used the trainer Mike Monroe, but my wife used the program with Mr. Harper and it was pretty solid. It may not be as good as the real thing, but (like most programs) it’s not bad if you have the discipline to follow through with the workouts each week. I personally have a hard time doing DVDs because they get kinda boring after a while - but with this program they send you a new one every month. Great if you have the money - but you can always do these things on your own if you have the chutzpah.

To get to Jillian’s podcast, you can either search for “Jillian Michaels” on iTunes, or go to

Jillian’s Podcast, click on KFI on demand & then enter from there. But—you’ll have to sign up for their “press pass” to enter in. It’s free, but it does give you access to a whole heap of programs.

Jillian’s program will come bundled with several others under the banner of “Sunday”, if you go the iTunes route, but you can download individually from the KFI site. Advantage of iTunes is back episodes.

Sally - thanks for the link to Jillian’s podcast.  I’ll have to give that a listen.  I hadn’t heard about the Australian version of BL?  Was Bob there too?

It should be an interesting season.  I’m like you Summer I don’t know how else to calculate the weight loss.  Also, if you don’t have as much to loose in the first place, by the end you can only loose so much weight and still be healthy.  You could loose the show because you simply don’t have any more weight to lose.

Adam - Is your wife still doing pushtv?  I heard about the program from your podcast.

yep, Bob was here, too.  cheese

Negotiations are still going on to see wheter or not Jillian will be back with Bob in the Australian version. In the mean time, the US version starts airing here on Oct. 2.

The weight is measured by percentage of body weight lost. That makes it more fair than just lbs. lost. They have a team of medicos doing the weighing & measuring before the contestants get on that huge scale. The one in the program is just for show. They are weighed beforehand & then don’t get to see the results until they step on that scale for the taping. Keeps the reactions genuine that way.

And it’s the pits that pushtv doesn’t send their programs out to other countries. Only for US residents atm.  confused

Sally - That’s interesting.  I didn’t know that about the weigh-ins.  I know there’s a lot of behind the scene stuff that doesn’t get aired.  Bummer about the pushtv dvd’s.

yeah, I guess pushtv doesn’t want the hassle of doing the different regions. Oh well........

BL finally started here last night. Is that Heather ALWAYS so mouthy????????? Sheesh! I would have voted HER off first just to shut her up. zipper I can see that her mouth will end up stirring up a load of trouble as time goes by............

And I’m rooting for the TEXAS contestant. I was born & raised in Texas...... YEE HAW!!!!

And do we know why Bob picked the dude from Tennessee????? (I know, but wanted to see if anyone else might know. hehehe! Answer here tomorrow...)
