adrianaadm suggested this as a topic for a show and it got a lot of support over there.  I figured I would start a thread over here to discuss this topic while we are waiting on the show smile

One thing I’ve discovered in the last month or so is that my wife and I really don’t know how to eat “healthy.” I was raised with large family style meals (my family is Italian) and my wifes family didn’t hardly cook at all - they did a lot of TV dinners and ate out at fast food places pretty regularly.

So now that we are on a different path it is taking some adjustments.  Right now I’m just doing pretty simple meals - primarily things like grilled chicken, fish, etc and veggies.  I know I need to branch out a bit to add some variety, but I’m still a bit flabbergasted about the goods and the bads since there is so much conflicting information out there.

So the topic at hand - Healthy Eating Habits.

What are some good sources to learn them and how do you eat healthy in an unhealthy world?

Hey Chris-

Good thoughts on that “Simple Meal” thing. I get to work with lots folks and I’m always amazed they just “don’t know” how to eat properly. After a little chatting I usually find they really do know - it’s just been awhile so they’re rusty.

I know it seems complicated with all the crazy information out there. But like anything else we do in life, as soon as you begin to pay attention to a subject, the correct information seems to arrive.

For me? I did just what you’re doing. I limited my food to the “known” good stuff. Occasionally I would make a wrong choice and beat myself up. Then I realized it was really a good thing because I had succeeded in expanding my “known” and little by little my I knew exactly how to eat properly.

Attaining the level of Master in anything in life usually boils down to mastering the basics.  Mastering your diet is the same.

I like you comments and attitude.  This afternoon I spent a little time on you blog and enjoyed the read.

For those of you who are wondering....

The next Motivation To Move Show will post in the morning and I will make sure we spend a little time on this subject.

I think most of the time, the closer it came from comming out of the earth, the healthier it is. Things like baked potatos, rice, chicken tend to me in many of my meals. Try to stay away from anything fried, greasy, or cheesy. Well, that’s my advise.
