Hi everyone!

I figured I’d drop in and officially introduce myself. You may have seen my dad’s announcement which covers most of the bases, but if not....

My name is Carlyn and I’m currently a 21 y/o senior at UF, studying business administration and psychology.

Ok, that’s the boring info. But like the rest of you, I’ve got a much more complex description of myself. I also have been fighting with my own body for as long as I can remember, dealing with the common overweight issues and just plain feeling less than comfortable in my own skin. I’ve experienced great success, and I’ve reverted to old habits. I’ve tried to trick myself into doing this excercise or eating that “health” food, and I’ve learned along the way that telling myself to do it is just as effective as someone else shouting the orders. It will never work unless I truly want it for me.

So why am I jumping into MTM now? Well, I’ve just recently starting actually listening to all the valuable information within this website (I’m a little bit behind everyone else here, I know smile) And for once I can zero in on the mental blocks to success that I’ve been ignoring for so long. I’m finally seeing that the trick really IS the “click” as we’ve heard. It’s the mental click where I finally realize that I’m not workout out so that other people accept me, or eating those fad diets so my scale will show me something friendly. It’s a complete lifestyle adoption that means I am not only accepting who and what I am, but I am embracing it so that any and every choice decision I make becomes a real-time reflection of how much I appreciate and respect myself. Respect myself… now that’s a great idea.

Now I’m starting to get a sense of that “Little Scott” in my head (as Deb so aptly described), reminding me that all I’m trying to do is mold myself into the happy, healthy image I see on the inside. So let’s keep all these powerful stories coming!! (Because really… I’m just stealing all your tips! smile)

I’m excited to have the opportunity to participate in something so stimulating and uplifting, and I look forward to getting to know you all!!

Welcome aboard Carlyn! Glad to see you’re helping Scott out.

The “Little Scott in my head” helped me with respect today too! It’s interesting, with all this info that Scott gives us roaming around in our brains, it comes out when we’re ready I guess.

See ya around the boards.

Welcome to MTM Land

You’re Dad has been motivating me since I lived in Florida over 2 years ago.  He’s the greatest and It’s nice to see that you appreciate him.  Keep up the good work - by the way, your photo is gorgeous!

I am ME.  I am Just ME.  i’m a little like other cats, but mostly I am just ME.

The brain is like a muscle. When we think well, we feel good.

Always listen to experts.  They tell you what can’t be done and why.  Then do it.

A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any invention in human history - with the possible exceptions of handguns and tequila.

Welcome...I’ll be looking forward to your participation. How wonderful to be able to work with your dad and at something that is so important. I’m the ER nurse with high BP and the pre-diabetic status that your dad spoke about on episode number 57. I was instantly motivated to move when I first found the podcast. I knew that this was different than anything I’ve come across. I’m still new at the use of the site but it’s fast becoming a way of life. I’m down 8 pounds and feeling taller. Is that possible...Heheh. Have a wonderful week-end and can’t wait to see and hear more from you.
