Woke up this morning a little stuffed up - thought it was just allergies and shrugged it off.

As I progressed through the day I started to drag and came home early when the sneezes started.

So this is the first time dealing with being sick on the whole fitness thing so I’ve got a question - since I do the home gym thing and won’t be infecting anyone - should I continue with workouts as usual or should I give my body a break to fight off the beasties?

Thanks for looking and chicken soup here I come.

Hey Zathars, (hope I spelled that write)

Yep, I woke up with a cold myself this morning.  However being only 2 pounds from my monthly goal I was determined to not let it stop me from working out.  I wasn’t sneezing at all while at the gym and I made sure I wiped every peice of equipment with disinfectant after I was done.  It was actually the only time all day that I felt good.

Not sure what the rule of thumb is in regards to working out, I guess it depends on how you feel.  Sometimes pushing yourself might be just what the doctor ordered.  That’s just my opinion.

All the best,
Stu

I wish I knew which episode it was to reference but Scott did address this. I believe he said to REST! It will take you longer to get over the cold if you continued to work out than not.

Scott? Oh Scott - where are you?  wink

Ah ha - thanks to your post and the Google I found it - just googled “Motivation to Move sick” and it came up first.

Exercising when you are sick

Now that I read it I believe I’ve heard that one too or my brain is just automatically Scott-icising it.

So I’ll take it easy and avoid my pregnant wife smile

Sorry Carrie.  Just treated my wife to a Weight Watchers Talapia Meal at Applebees.  MMMM.... good stuff.

Now, about that cold.  REST!  REST! REST!

If you can’t breath, you can’t exercise.

And Chris?  Did you say you Googled me?  I’m sure it’s happend before but this is the first time anybody has ever admitted to it. I’m not sure how I feel about that?  smile

And...Scott-icising?  I’m gonna have to think about that one.  smile

And… joining us for dinner was my good friend Tom Berdan.  Tom has been in my classes for 7 or 8 years and is a great guy.  He’ll be joining us as a moderator a little later on.  When you see him - welcome him.
