Hi Steve and all!

You made me do it! I’ll explain myself.

My weight problem is quite old although it started when I quit playing football (soccer) when I was 18 y.o. My weight was normal although my complexity has always been athletic (82 kg - 180 lbs, and 1,84 m - 6’04’’. To keep myself doing something I went to a gym and trained without any knowledge or guidance. I started to swell and got big, and then I quit but I still ate the same amount as when I trained. Needless to say it all turned into fat and my weight just soared to 242 lbs. Since then I have been able to start diets, loose weight, but only to get heavy again a couple of years later. This was killing me and my self-esteem hit even lower watermarks. And this has been my story until six months ago. I then weighed 225 lbs and had had it about the same old problem. This is when I found MTM podcast. And I loved it the first time I listened to it. It motivated me to do something about it. I’ve been going to a gym since then and workout 3-4 days a week. What I do is 45 minutes high-effort on a ski/treadmill sort of thing (don’t know what’s the actual name of it in English), and then I workout my muscles with a moderate effort but more repetitions. I am a bit scared to get big again. My goal is to get tonified (do you use that word in English?) and slim (taking into account my complexity). Anyway, as I loved the podcast I started checking out the web and found this community that gives the impression of being very sound, incredibly warm and motiivating, so I registered. It’s really comforting reading all the nice and motivating comments from all of you. And WOW!, the messages made my committment and motivation to boost! So I want to contribute as far as I can, and also seek some motivation those times when I might need it and some technical guidance. Getting back to my weight today… My weight is 205 lbs and I will be happy when I’m down to 185 lbs.

Talk to you soon!

The ski/treadmill sort of machine I didn’t know the name of is apparently an elliptical. So I got that sorted out then.

Hi P, welcome to MTM-Land!

It’s great to see that you’re dedicating yourself to feeling better and looking better.  The folks around here are very supportive, so please don’t hesitate to ask questions or post your challenges and successes.  We’re all here to help each other!

If I might ask, what is your native language?  Where are you writing to us from?  (And can I come visit?  *grin*)

Cheers,
Julie

Hi Julie,

Thanks! I really do feel better. I’ll update my journal later.

Your asking about my native language. Actually I have a couple. I was born and raised up in Sweden, my mother is Spanish, from Barcelona. So my native languages are Swedish, Spanish, and Catalan (pretty much in this order). I’m writing from Barcelona. Been living here for 10 years. It is a lovely place and I just can’t get enough of this city! Everyday I discover something new and exciting. So Barcelona’s on your agenda? Come over. I’m sure you’ll love it!
