I very recently purchased an IPOD and started to browse the Itunes website for motivational Podcasts to motivate me to lose weight and I stumbled onto the MTM podcasts and the MTM website.  Wow, what a wonderful community for motivation and support to reach our health goals!

I am a 55 year old male, living in Long Island, NY and I commute to New York City everyday to my desk job.  I am 6’ 0” and weigh in at about 257 (down from 260 earlier this week).  Since listening to Scott’s terrific motivational words and reading the postings in the community, I think I am well on my way to meeting my goal of dropping at least 30 pounds by my daughter’s wedding in October.  I am also very active in a fraternal organization that raises money for charity and until now, I have been finding very little time to exercise. The organization slows down for the summer, so I plan on using some of this time to get healthy.

Over the last several weeks, I have increased my walking, cut out the fattening sandwiches and replaced them with salads and I have drastically reduced my consumption of the “junk” snacks and replaced them with fruit.  This weekend, I am going to purchase a hybrid bike and start riding throughout Long Island.  By the way, does anyone have an opinion how a Specialized Bike compares with a Trek?

It is very unusual for me to post to websites, but with the love and support that I find on the MTM website, I wanted to become pert of it and publicly post my goal of at least 30 pounds by October.  With your support and my posting my goal, it will make reaching my goal a lot easier, and I will need your support to keep me going.  The postings will also keep me on track and better motivate me not to quit like I have hundreds of times before.

Any support you can provide will be deeply appreciated.

More to come!

Hii Pythian!

Welcome to MTM-land.  Thank you for posting, especially since you don’t do it most of the time.  And congratulations on the steps you’ve already taken!  Losing weight isn’t complication, it just requires a bit of devotion, and it looks like you’ve got that in spades!

Keep us posted on your progress towards your goal of 30 pounds by October.  We’re all rooting for you!

Cheers,
Julie

Hi PYTHIAN!

Welcome to MTM land!

One of the ways that helped me to lose weight, was to just watch what I eat.  I use a website called http://www.fitday.com and track my protein, fat and carb intake, and also my weight, exercise etc.  It’s helped me lose over 50 lbs ytd.

Glad your part of the community, and don’t be shy about posting.  It really helps when other see the similar struggles and successes we all face.

Take care,

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Hey MTM Land:

Scott:  The new website looks great!  Are you going to put the older shows on the site?  As you know, I stumbled onto the site about a month ago and I would live to hear some of the earlier shows.

Here is an update of my goal of dropping 30 pound by October I am down 5 pounds and I also got my butt moving by starting to visit the gym, ride my new bike and I even left my SUV parked on the driveway today and walked the mile and a half to my commuter train this morning.  Thanks for the support and let’s all keep moving!

Thanks - we like the new look too.  It has so much more energy!

We’re just a the beginning of MTM.  I promised a new, better looking and more functional site before July 1st so we focused on getting this launched. The site will grow quickly over the next few weeks.

We now have well over 300 programs and many of the older shows will be availabe on the site soon.

Thanks for you support and congrats on that weight loss.  You’re going to look great those wedding pictures.

Hey MTM land:

Here is an update on my goal to lose at east 30 pounds by October.  This is day 5 at a weight loss spa in upstate New York.  At this mediocre facility, we (my wife and I) are getting a reduced calorie count (1200 for me and 900 for her) and there are 6 exercise classes each day consisting of walks, water exercise classes and aerobic and training classes.  Since arriving here last Sunday, I have lost about 8 pounds and I am aiming for at least 10 when we depart on Sunday.

The 8 pounds down brings me to a total of about 13 since I started to loose the 30.  I hope to use this week as a kick start to keep moving and meet and bypass the 30 pound goal by October.  I will be back and let you know what the total weight loss is this week.  By the way, I want to thank Scott for the company on some of the walks down the beautiful upstate country road since I walk to some of the most recent MTM weekly podcasts.

Scott, keep up the great work and keep the great ideas coming.  I need the support to keep me moving!

Marty
