Yea!!! Just keep moving and you’ll be fine. Are you paying attention to other indicators of change besides your weight? How are your clothes fitting? How about the walking? Are you finding it easier to walk for a longer period of time? There are lots of ways to measure your progress and sometimes when you don’t see progress in one area, you’ll see it in another and that will help with your motivation. At least that’s what I experienced.
Day 38 2.78 miles 424 calories
Day 39 3.54 532 calories
Thanks Joan! Ya, I am noticing other things. I have more energy, I am happier, the walks are getting easier. I know I am getting smaller but I am still in that “Wow, my clothes got a little bigger” phase.
Day 41 5.47 miles 822 calories
Day 42 2.85 miles 428 calories
Just Mentally exhausted today. Really took effort to get out there and just do 2 miles. Last day of a very long work week for me. Have the next 2 days off to emotionally recharge!
It is pouring rain here in Southern California. We do not know how to deal with this here, it’s like the world stopped! I was really excited to go for my walk, but I am waiting out the rain. Going to do some chores and healthy cooking for the week and see what happens later today. If I have to I will go to the gym in my building, but I would rather be outside.
So, as of this morning....... I have officially lost 15 pounds in 2 months! I am so excited. I am definitely in a groove now. fingers crossed I will keep it going. I have no desire right now to change these ways, so hopefully I stay that way.
Day 45 2.72 miles 409 calories
Day 46 2.91 miles 438 calories
Day 47-51 nothing.......
Day 52 3.65 miles 549 calories
Day 53 3.85 miles 579 calories
Wow! These boards are slow! Went away for 8 days but I guess I didn’t miss much! Life seriously got in the way! But I only let it happen for 5 days..... Lost my job last week, but got another one the next day. So, everything is ok, but I was a wreck emotionally. There were a couple of days where I just went to the grocery store and bought every bad food that sounded good. I actually told the check out guy to please not judge my purchase! I just need a few days to mope I guess, but back at it! Before I would have let this derail me for months! The most suprising part? I didn’t gain an ounce! That doesn’t make sense but I’m not complaining!
Day 54 4.72 miles 710 calories
Day 55 through 58 nothing, still a little mopey....
Day 59 4.67 miles 703 calories
Still having a bit of a hard time emotionally with all that has been going on. Had a little click though this morning. I realized I could do my best in my new job and either be chunky or thinner 3 months from now. The job is still going to go however it is going to go. So, me continuing to keep moving is only going to improve my situation. If I sit around and stress, it is only going to make everything worse. So, off to my walk I went!
Candy, I’m thrilled to read that you are DEFINITELY now under 200. If your stats are up to date, you really did a great job while I was on vacation. Sorry about all the stress of the job but it sounds like you’ve got a handle on it. My guess is that Scott would suggest that you rely on your default diet.
Day 60 Nothing
Day 61 5.76m miles 866 calories
Day 62 Christmas!
Day 63 Lazy......
Day 64 5.39 miles 810 calories
Thanks Joan! It has been a tough last 3 weeks. But with Christmas, job loss, new job, and everything else I lost .2 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I am a little bummed but totally understand looking back at my eating and lack of workouts. Plus, I am super excited I didn’t gain!!!!!! I am eating a default diet right now which is just pick the healthiest option and have some stuff to just grab if I need to. Tonight I am making chicken fajitas in the crock pot that I am going to put on a whole wheat tortilla with tons of veggies. I am spending New Years out in Palm Springs at my parents and think I am going to suggest some healthy crock pot options to eat over the weekend and not foot long subs and pizza! Going out now for my walk. Be back to post day 65 soon!
Day 65 1.82 miles 275 calories
Day 66 3.69 miles 555 calories
Day 67 2.83 miles 436 calories
My miles were a little low the last few days. Breaking in a new pair of Nike’s from Santa! Scale going down a little bit again. It’s New Year’s Eve and I am making a big pot of turkey chili and a yummy salad for everyone to eat for dinner. Going out for my walk in a bit. Post it soon! Happy New Years!
Hope you enjoyed your hike, Candy. I had to check to see where you live when you said you were going out walking later. We had an unexpected 3 to 4 inches of snow today and our temps have been swinging from 10 to 30F so it hasn’t exactly been walking weather especially in the evening. At least tonight it isn’t windy.
Keep those Nike’s walking and in a year’s time you will see amazing progress!
Day 68 5.48 miles 825 calories
Day 69 New Years Day..... nothing....
Day 70 5.38 miles 810 calories
Thanks Joan! Ya I live in Southern California so I am lucky to live somewhere with pretty nice weather year round. It’s about 68 and sunny today! I do all of my walks up and down the bay watching the boats. I think that’s why it’s easier to do so many miles!
Yesterday everyone was talking about what their New Years resolutions were and I realized I really didn’t have one to make. I started out on a path 3 months ago and I just want to keep going in this direction on this journey! When I started out with all this walking it was to lose weight. I have lost 17 pounds in 3 months. What I didn’t think of was the emotional “weight” I would lose as well. I feel like I am in a much better emotional place. It’s almost like I am walking for my sanity and weight lose is now just an added benefit!
Philosophers who emphasized a big split between mind and body didn’t understand life as far as I’m concerned. Yes, isn’t it amazing how much feeling better physically improves how we feel emotionally and mentally?
Keep on walking Candy since that obviously works for you. Do you ever do core/ab exercises? They’re important too for your balance. (Just a suggestion)
I just read through your thread. Very inspiring! I know it is frustrating not to be losing more weight right now, but I think you should really be proud that you kept going and that you maintained your weight loss through the holidays. That is no small feat!
