Day 21 rest day

Did not feel good yesterday again.  Not sure what is wrong with me.  Might be a migraine.  I am usually not a sick person at all so this is wierd for me.  I feel a lot better today though.  Going to work and then hoping to get a few miles in tonight.  The scale said 200.0 this morning!!!  Not going to claim it yet though since I haven’t been able to keep anything down for a few days....

Hi Candy! Doesn’t it just irritate you that when you get good momentum going, your body seems to shut down? I always get sick when I finally get my routine down pat. Ugh! Your miles are really adding up, but I have one concern. It seems you’re starting to feel worse from exercise than better, if I’m wrong, yay, but if I’m right, you may want to slow down just a bit. Its so easy to overdo it (personal experience). I’m impressed that you get out there almost every day. Keep up the momentum!!!

Day 22 and 23 recovery, just feeling blah days.
Day 24 2.75 miles 421 calories

Hi Bree!  That’s a really good point.  I hadn’t thought of that.  Well, I have been forced to slow down, but I am definitely going to take it slow.  Really watch how I feel.  It’s those darn Nike Challenges!  My competitive side comes out......  On an up note....... I’ve lost 10 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!  WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!  It’s taken 6 weeks, but 10 down.  Happy dance!!!

Candy, I agree with Bree that you have to give your body time to recover from the exercise. However, I am also wondering how much illness is going around where you are. Could you actually be fighting illness? (Even if you are, you still need to schedule rest time.) Hope you feel better soon . . . and pyoyb for the 10 pounds gone.

Easing into it..... Joan, everyone is sick here!  I work in a salon and half the staff and a lot of clients coming and going are sick.  We have 2 people out with the Swine Flu.  Scary!  I have the assistants wiping everything down with chlorox wipes all day.  I think my not feeling well was a combination of fighting something off and doing a little too much while not sleeping very good last week.

Day 26 just plain lazy day.....
Day 27 3.67 miles 561 calories

I need to get some new stuff to listen to on my Ipod while I’m walking.  The MTM podcasts only last about 20 minutes a day.  Anyone have any suggestions?

I got on the scale this morning and it said 198.4!!!!!  Awesome!  I am not claiming it quite yet though.  It takes a little while to stick…

I was about to write to Scott and ask him to stop talking about Seasons 52.  It just sounds so delicious and being in California, no where near me.  But, I looked on their website and they are opening one right down the street from me!  Yeah!  Unfortunately it opens in “Fall 2010” but at least it’s coming!

Congrats on getting out of the two hundreds even if you aren’t posting it yet.

What kinds of things interest you as far as the IPod goes? I’m pretty eclectic in my tastes. I listen to The Health Report from the Australian Broadcasting company, The News from Lake Wobegon from Garrison Keillor, NPR’s Planet Money and Wait, Wait Don’t Tell; I also like NPR’s Sunday Puzzle and the Technology Podcast. Sometimes I listen to “This American Life” and Bill Moyers Journal but they’re both longer programs and I haven’t found time for them for a while. I tend to listen to more in the summer because I listen as I garden. At the gym I listen only when on the elliptical or treadmill and if I’m running on the treadmill rather than walking I can’t concentrate on what’s being said so Scott usually takes up my treadmill time. Sometimes I listen to NPR’s Fresh Air and Science Friday too but I’m way behind on them.

Day 28 3.72 miles 568 calories
Day 29 Total lazy bum........

I just needed to be super lazy today.  It is the calm before the Thanksgiving storm.......  I also ate macaroni and cheese today which is so bad, but just had to do it.  I made a big healthy salad with chicken I am going to eat the next 3 days for lunch so I am not feeling too bad.  I will be back on tomorrow!  I weighed in at 199 this morning, but still not ready to claim it.  We’ll see what it is after Thursday! LOL!

I expect that we’ll do the two mile walk around our neighborhood tomorrow--assuming that it isn’t raining.

So enjoy your walk and Thanksgiving. smile

Day 33 4.81 miles 732 calories

Well definitely started off the day right with a long walk.....  Ate better than I normally would for Thanksgiving...... but not too good.  So, I would call it a partial success.  It was the first time I exercised on Thanksgiving!  Hope you all got out there and did something too!!!

Great job for getting a nice walk in on Thanksgiving!  Sounds to me like you enjoyed the day.  Don’t be too hard on yourself.  Remember it is all about being more gooder, than badder.  Sounds to me like you were more gooder on Thanksgiving!!  Keep up the great work and keep on moving!

Candy, I would call your Thanksgiving a success. All things in moderation. . . . I didn’t make it out for a walk but I quickly realized that I wouldn’t have the energy after all the work I was doing.

Nice job getting the walk in on Thanksgiving Day. I did the same and it was a nice feeling to get outside. How is your holiday weekend going? You getting your workouts in?

Day 34 Rest Day
Day 35 2.82 miles 430 calories

Thanks for all the posts everyone!  It really helps keep me motivated!  Yesterday was a rest day.  I wanted to go walk but my 13 year old niece was begging me to take her to the Juicy Outlet store.  Wow!  Was that an experience!  I did get 3 pairs of Juicy Sweatpants for $91 though!  (that is a really good deal) Wanted to go farther today but have to go to work and was being a little lazy on the couch this morning with my coffee and CNN.  If I get off by 5 tonight I will go out again.  I am in a Nike challenge that ends at 9pm tonight.  Me and this guy have been going back and forth for 3rd place.  If I do 3 miles tonight I will beat him!

Oh ya!  Weighed my self this morning.... 199.2!  It’s 2 days after Thanksgiving and I am claiming it!

Good luck in the Nike challenge. I don’t know if you noticed but I claimed the “under 200” for you several days ago. You should feel really good at staying there despite Thanksgiving!

Day 36 5.64 miles 864 calories

It is super windy here today!  Half of my miles I was walking against the wind.  It was strong it blew my 8 pound dog into me once!  Poor thing!  I wanted to stop after 2 1/2 but thought about that Thanksgiving day and just kept going......

Thanks Joan!  I noticed you claimed it last week, but I was too scared too.  I bounce up and down a few pounds all the time.  Sometimes under sometimes over 200.  But, it’s been always below for a few days now.  I just hate that I have dropped under the 200 about 10 times over the last 2 years.  Hopefully this is the last time!
