Day 149
Clogging class - about an hour of dancing.  Low intensity overall today, but it was HOT in the dance studio - sweating like crazy!

Day 150
Rest day

Day 151
Little bit of weights during lunch break, mostly upper body - didn’t have much time to spend today, but felt good to do the strength training again!

Have clogging performances both Friday night and on Saturday, so the “moving” part will be covered for those 2 days!

Day 152
Clogging show - show lasted about an hour, and I was in most of the numbers performed.

Day 153
The show today was cancelled due to our instructor was injured during last night’s show.  This became a rest day as I did preparations for Sunday’s planned activities.

Day 154
Worked outside most of the day.  Weeded a large area, planted 3 rhododendrons - 2 were replacements for plants that died last year, one was completely new; planted 3 butterfly bushes, cleaned the lingering pollen collection off the back porch, filled the flower pots - I am tired!  Wish the plants luck - I did not inherit my mother’s green thumb…

Planning to exercise during lunch break tomorrow…

I’m sorry your show was cancelled.

Good luck with your plantings. I hope you like your butterfly bushes as well as I like mine. They take a while to regrow each early summer but have flowers all through the second half of the summer.

Day 155
20 minutes on elliptical

Day 156
Dance class - about an hour of clogging total

Joan - Yes, I hope the new plants survive.  I already had one butterfly bush which has done well for about 2 years now, so it was time to try a few more.  They’re still alive for now - that’s a good start!

Day 163
Lots of walking with my sweetheart - probably about 90 minutes total, broken up into 2 sections (before and after a late lunch).  Checked out the new walking path in one of the local parks (we walked it previously but were abruptly stopped by a span without a bridge - bridge is now complete).  Path is about 2 miles round-trip - plan is for it to be expanded in the future.  Will head there in the future for a walk or jog.

Day 164
Went to the YMCA - 15 minutes on elliptical, 20 minutes on treadmill, 4 minutes on rowing machine (1 round of the machine’s game).  Also working on weeding, mulching, etc. in the yard today - currently taking a “cool-off” break in the air conditioning.

Exciting news for me - they are doing a new round of “boot camp” classes at the Y! I picked up the flyer today, and am planning to stop by and get registered later this week.  I heard good things about these classes when they were offered early spring.  Classes start the week after July 4 weekend.  Two classes per week - the EARLY morning option (6:15 am!) is the only one that goes with my work schedule, but I can do it 2 days per week.  Maybe…

Good luck with the boot camp. You’re more ambitious than I am. That would be too early for me!

Day 166
Essentially a rest day - 10 minutes on treadmill.  Planned to do more, but lunch break was unexpectedly cut short.

Day 167
Clogging practice - learned multiple new routines - brain is tired!  Estimate a couple hours of dancing.

A little catch-up from vacation days:

Day 169
Rest day - driving, driving, driving

Day 170
Walked all day long!  Did the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, and didn’t take the “people mover” bus until the very end of the day.  My first time to the falls - wow!  Did the Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls, “Niagara’s Fury”, White Water Walk.  Tried to do the whirlpool aerocar, but it closed surprisingly early, and we were too late.  Ate lunch with a view of the falls.

more catch-up later!

Day 171
Rode to Toronto.  Did a fairly long walk in the afternoon/evening, just exploring and shopping - still, it didn’t count as any kind of strenuous workout.  Got a couple new pairs of exercise shorts and a pair of exercise pants - can’t wait to wear them!

Day 172
My sweetheart and I were at the Royal Ontario Museum before it opened, and we were there until closing time.  Took a walk through another section of Toronto, and had a delicious dinner.

Day 173
Went up in the CN tower before leaving Toronto - stood on the glass floor.  Drove to New York for my sweetheart’s family reunion - chased around the nieces and nephews as we picked delicious cherries fresh from the tree, kicked a soccer ball around and I attempted to ride my nephew’s “wave” (like a ripstik").  Also played cards with the rest of the adults and teens - lost the poker game!  smile Managed to sneak in a trip to Seneca Farms for some wonderful homemade ice cream!

Day 174
More family reunion stuff.  A little shopping (well, browsing), more soccer, more wave, cherries, cards, etc.  Lots of activity, but lots of special food as well.

Day 175
More family reunion!  Did much better in the card game tonight!

Day 176
Rest day.  Spent the day in the car, driving back from New York, with a nephew who will be visiting for a couple days.  For age 7 1/2, he was surprisingly great during the long car ride.

Day 175
Took nephew to Lake Katherine for a hike.  He managed one trail with only a brief piggyback ride from my sweetheart.  Later, we kicked a soccer ball around for a long time.  My dad (who lives next door) coached kids’ soccer long ago, and he joined in the fun.  We kicked it around until everyone was tired.  I also played many more games of Mario Kart than I really cared to play.  smile

Day 176
Took nephew to the YMCA to play racquetball, sort of.  He has never played, so we weren’t exactly keeping score or following the rules with any consistency.  However, we did spend an entire hour running around and hitting the ball.  We had reserved the court for an hour, and after lunch he asked to go back!  smile
Later that evening, the nephew’s 3 siblings and their mother (my fiance’s older sister) arrived, and it was a fun chaos for the rest of the evening.

Day 177 - today!
It is quiet, and I have the house to myself for the day.  Everyone else - sweetheart, his sister, and the pack of children, have gone off to a museum.  I have opted to stay behind for a day of quiet, and will have dinner ready for the group tonight.  Heading to the YMCA for a good workout ALONE!
Tomorrow, my fiance’s sister is continuing her drive home with all of the children except the oldest nephew, age 12, who will be staying with us for a couple days, then flying home.  We will probably do some hiking with him at Lake Katherine, and may repeat the racquetball experience since it went so well with his younger brother.

Gonna wear one of the new pairs of shorts to the YMCA today!

Day 178
The oldest nephew, age 12, remains behind, and the rest of his family took off this morning.  We took him to the local nature preserve and walked the longest trail, which is 2.5 miles.  He was tired, and not ready to try another trail after that (going up and down the hills wore him out).  It was fun that he was putting his boy scout training to good use, pointing out likely sources of safe drinking water and edible insects, in case we became stranded.

Happy July 4th!

Day 179
When we woke up this morning, the nephew requested to go back to the nature preserve and hike another trail.  This time we did the 2-mile hike.
Later today, my clogging group performed at a festival.  We put on a 1-hour show, and I was in most of the dances.

Tomorrow’s exercise plan:  Clogging competition team practice!  Missed last week while on vacation, so I am excited to go back!
