2009 Goal: To be injury free this year. That could be a toughie from this klutz.

Update on broken toes and bones: All pretty much healed up except the pinkie toe. Still very slow on developing and filling in the mass needed to produce bone. So, on the 5th of January I was told to resume my usual excercise, but with modifications to both cardio and leg exercises. But, no yoga....downward dogs....for another month.

I stepped on the treadmill and was so disappointed that not only did it bother my foot, the speed was so slow. No heavy breathing at all, no LSBB’s. The next day I decided to walk outside only to find that it took me a day to recover from that!
Did resume my weights last week and felt good about that.

Anyone have Wii Fit? Cute game which is all about balance. Something that I am certainly lacking with my falls last year.
Playing that as I can do the slow step and now the squats too.

This week I am starting up, full force (or putting one step in front of the other), watching diet and have workouts planned. Will be very flexible in those for the rest of the month too. I’ve been waiting to start my challenge thread, why?

Will post my afternoon workout and get my butt back up in the a.m. That’s what works for me

Good to hear that you are able to move more. I’ve seen the Wii Fit. It looks very cool but definitely not in my budget. You have a good plan set for the week. Let us know how it goes.

I did it! Out the door at 4:30 a.m. for the SLSBW (slowest, long slow burn warmup) anyone can do. Stretching followed.
Good breakfast in with my trusty banana too.

Afternoon workout planned for chest and back.

Josie, you’re really smart to work on your balance any way you can. And it’s going to take you a while to get back to where you were before the bone breaks so don’t be too hard on yourself mentally.

Wednesday 1.14.09

35’ outside walk in. 30’ on my Wii Fit again.

Thursday 1.15.09

Slept in yesterday morning. Deciding on getting in my cardio in the p.m. After dinner I never did get around to my arms. Grr....

So now it is Friday morning. I slept in as I usually do when I do cardio the night before. So I’ve messed my routine up again. If that is the worst thing to happen today....that would be good. Oh well.

Figuring on getting in both my arm and shoulder workout this evening. Maybe some doggie walks with the pups. Depending on temps this evening.

But I’ll be flip flopping to get my routine back into place. Always something.

Thursday 1.29

Food: on plan except for that glass of wine
Water: on plan
Excercise: 30’ stretch video, 30’ of a walking home video (5 mile walk away the pounds). That was a tuffy. Read the back of the DVD and it averages 12.4 mph walking and stepping.

Slept in this a.m., didn’t even set my alarm to get up. Will be getting myself this weekend to get my habit started again. Urghhh, somehow that doesn’t sound good for a Saturday. LOL!

It might not sound good for a Saturday, but think how great you will feel Monday morning after getting back on track over the weekend!
Good luck!!!!

Sorry you’re sick, Josie. Your Saturday workout looks like it included quite a variety of activities.

That’s my daughter Joan. She wants to try all different excercises on the weekends. Throws my routines off, but I don’t do even the treadmill with much intensity as I know we’ll be doing something later in the day.

Tuesday 2/3

Still sick, ended up being a Wii bowling day. LOL, a one arm workout. Then a “gentle tai chi” video with my DD. So basic and slow that I thought that it was nothing. Almost like a senior citizen type video with alot of sitting. Guess what, my thighs realized this a.m. that they did do some squatting yesterday. LOL!

Wednesday thru Friday 2/3-2/5

Very sick, allergic reaction to med’s, but finally feeling more normal by Friday night. So will only get better and back on track.

It’s Saturday morning at almost 4 a.m. and do feel ok. I’ll take alittle nap and may be able to get some walking in this morning. Feel like I gotta move alittle.

Saturday 2/7

Food Plan: decent

Excercise: 42’ Wii fit mini workouts, yoga for abs session (all mat work) also.

Sunday 2/8/09

58 minutes of yoga class, not a flow series, just holding and aligning different poses. One tough class for this out of shape yogi. It’s been 3 months since a real class. Certainly felt like a beginner again. LOL!

Josie, I’m hoping to get the chance to feel like a beginner this week. Feel good about the fact that you were able to attend a yoga class. My first task tomorrow is to check out the gyms near my sister’s house.

So Joan, how were the gyms you checked out yesterday? My DD and I actually did that a few weeks ago and were surprised how sterile they looked. I guess I like the older “family” type gyms, not the chain one’s. I’ve really had a problem with communal hot tubs and sauna’s.

We did go to a local gym a few years ago and then decided (time wise) that with a treadmill, elliptical and my son’s weights at home, I could do it there. It is harder to blow off some days though.

Monday: 2/9

Good chest/back weight day. Decent warmup walk and then a short stress busting walk at night.

Food: half way decent, self medicated.....grr.....

Thanks for asking. Actually I checked out only two of the 7 gyms withing 5 miles of here and went back to the first one and bought a week’s pass. It’s for women only and has a decent number of classes as well as typical machinery and weights.

I do better if I go somewhere to exercise. At home I keep thinking that I’ll do it later and later never comes.

Josie- I was checking out your thread. I can definitely relate to your goal. It seems like little injuries are derailing my progress. I wear a heart rate monitor to keep my HR in check. For me when the HR gets to high my rowing technique gets thrown off and as a result injuries occur.

Love the Wii! My kids have been begging for Wii fit and the bowling is a blast. I still can’t beat my 9 yr old. smile

Keep up the good work!

Mike

I’d love to try the Wii someday. From what I read, it sounds like fun--but I don’t want to spend the money right now.

I’m glad to read you’re faithfully using yours.
