Great job, Tim! How’s the New Year looking from your life?

Hi Bree,

Thanks for checking in on me.

This year end/new year had a key difference from the last few: no loading and unloading of a moving truck!  My wife and I relocated to the Washington DC area from NE Ohio at the end of 2005, and since then we moved from apartment to apartment every December, as each 12-month lease expired, until we bought a townhouse in northern Virginia last year.

So this holiday season involved no collection of cardboard boxes, no packing, no renting of a U-Haul, et cetera…

And in addition to the stability of home-ownership, I expect to be in my current job for a couple more years (federal civil service has its benefits in these troubling economic times, which I especially value based on my private sector days in OH...).  I expect to take a new measure of my job situation and my career ambition in 2010 and make the next call career-wise then.

I suppose that gives me 2009 as a year to build upon my fitness goals.  On March 21st, I’ll run in my second-ever half-marathon.  My first was in spring 2005, just before I came to the DC area.  My goal is to beat by 2005 time.

Bree, what are your goals for 2009?

Bree, what are your goals for 2009?

So not fair turning that question around to me! cheese I’m going to get to 22% body fat and get my personal trainers certification. I’m already on week 4 of the 12 week course.

What was your 2005 marathon time? I love to run the half marathon for the Phedipidations Festival of Races in October. I did the 5K in 2007, and the 10K in 2008. My problem is boredom. I get bored with the length of time I have to run. Any suggestions?

Tim,

I watched a friend run in the National Marathon about 20 years ago.  Very inspiring.  Lots of milatry teams.  I won’t wish you luck because you are making your own luck.  Train well and kick butt.....
