I recently turned vegetarian and have noticed the pounds melting away! It’s simply down to the fact that I’ve swapped meat for the Quorn/meat alternatives. These are much much much lower in fat and still have all of the protein you need. Most of the time too I can honestly say I can’t tell the difference! I’m not advocating everyone goes veggie but maybe sometimes switch for the meat-free option to cut down on the fat!
