I have been exercising most days, but thought that this might be additional
“motivation” as the Holidays approach. Even though today is my start day, I think that
I will start with a day off...actually I have lots of heavy housework planned.
Maybe that’s not really a day off?
Welcome Kay! Great idea to have added motivation for the holiday season. Is the plan to maintain during the holidays or lose weight?
I consider days when I’m too busy (crazy busy) to exercise—CRAZY DAY. Its a day when you’re moving, but not as intentional exercise. You do need a rest and recovery day once a week at least. Heavy housework is also considered Hardio around here. You can definitely work up a great sweat while cleaning. Especially if you’re blaring your favorite music (bonus points if you have kids and they hate your music choice.)
I wouldn’t mind maintaining, but I would love to lose! I have the luxury of no children left at home and am able to plan healthy holiday meals. My lovely husband will eat anything I serve (almost). Love to clean to loud music(which my children would hate if they were here)!
That should make you smile while dancing with the broom! I’ve been stuck with Hannah Montana while cleaning lately—keeps my kiddos on board. But throw some Bon Jovi on and listen to them groan, it’s awesome!
Had a great day yesterday and managed to squeeze in some walking along with the ‘hardio.” Day 2: 30 minutes of circuit training. Woke up late; did it anyway!
Well, the plan was to get up early and do some cardio before I made a pie and threw the turkey in the oven. but it was too nice to sleep late! So I cooked first, then did 20 minutes of Yoga and spent an hour and a half raking heavy wet leaves and planting bulbs! Still plan a walk after dinner!
I am amazed at how motivating this is! Just one more way of making myself accountable. I have been doing “Yoga Flow and Yard Work” each day.
Tomrrow I am back to work and my regular routine. This morning I am back to cardio; 20 minutes on the Nordictrak. I have lost about 20 lbs and have aother 20 to go. I have mastered maintaining(!) and know that I need to kick up the exercise in order to start losing again.
Yesterday, an hour long Yoga class and after listening to the fitness boost, I decided to add biceps and triceps and really do the most that I could.
This morning I did 25 minutes of cardio. Tomorrow I am taking the day off! Ok, maybe a few yoga stretches...I’m sore. (But in a good way)
I gained two pounds! I have been exercising more, but I think that this may be a delayed gain from my Thanksgiving carbfest. I also have to resist the urge to hibernate now that the weather’s getting colder. 20 minutes on the nordictrak this morning. Which is not bad, but I should have added some weight training too. It really didn’t feel like it was enough. Bought some new dvd’s today! Goody!
45 minutes of high intensity cross training on monday. 45 minutes of cardio on Tuesday. 2 miles in 30 minutes on wednesday with some free weights thrown in each day. for the first time, I think that I got the message that you just can’t “phone it in.” I am trying now to continually challenge myself. It’s actually fun!
Life has an interesting way of getting in the way. Big ice storm. No heat, water, power for three days. By the third day it was 36 degrees in the house! Here’s what I learned: We really can do without a lot...at least for a while. There is nothing more important than friends and community. It’s amazing how warm a stack of down comforters will keep you at night...as long as you don’t get out of bed! My old nordictrak...that old low tech beauty requires no power(except mine!). I could exercise and keep warm!
That doesn’t sound like much fun. When I bought my place, I tried to set it up to operate off the grid. Windmill, solar panels, wood heat, etc. I didn’t succeed entirely, but I can go for a while without gas or power. I bet the ice storm really helped to set some priorities in life. Hope everything is all good now ... I assume you have power now as you were able to post. Good job with the moving!
I can’t believe I am almost half way to 100 days. I have never been this committed to exercise in my life. Of course, when I was young I was involved in a lot of sports and never even thought of it as exercise. It’s possible that I am on my way to being in the best shape of my life at 57! amazing
Have been exercising right along. I find it easier not to miss a day. Now I have a cold. Here’s what I’ve learned: Listen to my body. I know when I am truly too ill to exercise and need to crawl under the covers instead. Starting to feel better, but still not great...an hour of Yoga actually made me feel even better. Breathing is good! Today, I came home from work and did half an hour of plain old push-ups, lunges, plank, squats, etc...and I felt refreshed and energized. Who knew?
