Yeah! it starts at the beginning of a new month: OCTOBER 2008! Over the past 2 months I have gradually eased into exercise and now I am ready for this 100-day exercise challenge. On my menu I have:
* C25K - a jogging programme
* zumba - the most fun cardio ever!
* spinning - makes me work hard…
* toning - where I discover muscles and joints that have been long-ignored!
* resistance training - I’m a newbie here
* DVD workouts - I’ve got a few
* other options -in case I want something entirely new I’ll get more adventurous!

Now, with these delicious exercise options all I have to do is start!

On my marks, get set....

GO!!!!

Do you have your workouts planned each day.... resting your muscles after a weight training day.... cardio everyday (in one form or another), flexibility (yoga, stretching etc)?

What are you goals (besides wanting to be fit)?

WHY? why do you want to start… (and hopefully keep) going?

Welcome to the 100 days (officially!)

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Here are my goals (which I had originally posted in the ‘what’s your goal thread’)

I will keep off all the fat I’ve recently lost -forever
I will be healthy, fit and active.
I will have a flat tummy, not a bloated one.
I will run around with my husband and children, have fun and lots of energy
I will feel confident about my appearance.
I will like the clothes I wear, no, I mean I will wear the clothes I like!
I will build up my lean bdy mass / muscle
I wiil be toned (having lost those bingo wings and that jiggly thigh fat!)
I will eat healthily
I will help others reach their health & fitness goals

(Numerically: lose 3kgs of fat, trim body fat down from 32% to 25%. Keep BMI at 22.)

GO!
Day 1

Spinning class 45 mins.
My thighs mega-ached but I imagined the fat cells melting away with each revolution and that kept me pushing those pedals!
Also pleased that I resisted eating the children’s biscuits this morning. Bon!
(I’m glad I signd up for this 100-day challenge as I almost did not go this morning. Then I thought, ‘oh I’ll have nothing to record for Day 1 if I don’t go...’ -and off I went!)

I can’t stress enough the importance of resistance/strength training!!!! This is what really SHAPES your body.  There are a lot of string-bean Cardio Queens but hey, you rock those weights and you’ll be looking great with all that tone and firm curves!!!!  Good luck with your 100 days, it goes really fast believe it or not!!!!

Being fat is hard. Losing weight is hard. Maintaining weight loss is hard. Pick your hard.

String-bean cardio Queen? Sounds scary! I keep hearing the same message repeatedly. Alright, I’m gonna rock those weights! What do you do for resistance training Zookie? Thanks for the advice grin

spinning is fun.....

and ‘Zookie’ is right.....

it’s all about balance

Weights (resistance - even push ups, sit ups, lunges, squats) Aerobic - running, spinning, swimming - anything that keeps your heart elevated for more than 30 - 45 minutes (at 45 minutes, you really get the benefit) and Flexibility - stretching, yoga, pilates etc

Keep it up...great start!

Day 3

housework

well I hope this counts! mopping, dishes, tidying, laundry, etc. Meant to go for a jogging sssion but couldn’t eventually. I don’t consider house work to be of the intensity of my main exercises but it sure lasts for hours!

Again, not intense but we’re away for my daughter’s birthday and have done quite a lot of walking today. I will go jogging tomorrow morning.

Day 5 (sun 05 Oct 08)

Jogging

Podrunner intervals C25K week 3 session 1. Glad I went although it was chilly as it had just rained. A few months it would have been a vague wish that I could actually do any exercise while on holiday but I very pleased that it is happening now!

You are doing great, Trimlee! You’re right about housework not being intense, but I do think doing hours of it make up for the lack of intensity. I’m often far more tired after a day of cleaning than after running a 5k.

Congrats of completely week 1!

Day 8 (weds 08 Oct 08)

walking!
Disneyland!- 11am till 5pm Interspersed with lots of rides (which Mum and Dad might have enjoyed even more than the kids!). Got my pedometer on and clocked just under 10,000 steps. Makes me wonder just how we’re supposed to get 10,000 steps in on a regular day???
