I’ve been on this journey to get healthy since December 2005, and am so glad I found MTM when I got my iPod for Christmas.  At my highest weight I tipped the scale at a whopping 568 lbs. that was Christmas of 2004. Fast forward one year and I had lost down to 539 lbs, and was finally ready to make the change and commit to a new lifestyle of healthy food choices and excersize.

For Christmas this year i asked for strictly things that would help in my new fitness endeveor which included excersize clothes, personal training sessions and an Ipod which is the best thing I could have gotten with the exception of my personal training sessions!

My trainer Dex has labeled me his “project” which is fine by me because he’s been doing it long enough to know how to accomplish his mission!!

So since I am a creature that thrives on competition and goals set out to have our very own “biggest loser” contest with some added incentive, that being $600!  We set it up just like the show with an initial weigh-in and additional weekly weigh-ins with a catch, each week the biggest loser % wise got a pass, everyone else paid $5.  So after 12 weeks there was some nice change!!  Well the contest was over last week and I won!!  I lost 58 lbs or -10.78 %. Now I have to come up with another carrot to keep me motivated!!  Thanks for letting me vent on this forum.

Steve

Quick update.

I finally am breaking free and facing some of the challenges that face so many obese individuals, and breaking out of the prison and limitations that limit us!

I was invited to go to a Disney on Ice show which prior to me getting moving I would have declined the invite and made an excuse, but not this time.  I was determined to not let the size of the seat (or the fact I was too large to fit into the seat affect my decision!) It was a chance to take my oldest kids to see the Incredibles and I was going to set aside my fears, and go to the show. And low and behold surprise I fit, a bit tight, but fit none the less!!  this is the first time in 7+ years I’ve even tried to fit in a stadium seat, I still have a long way to go but I’m feeling great!! smile

Whoa Doggies!!! Congrats on the weight loss.  cool smile

Where in Texas are you from? Me—I’m originally from Amarillo, now known in the Panhandle as Scorched Earth. LOL!

I know what you mean about being big & having special obstacles, etc. A lot of people on this forum don’t know what a major milestone it is to be able to fit into a “regular” seat. I do. My highest weight was 450 lbs. I’m now down to 415.

You’re being a good example to your kids as you progress on your journey. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the encouragement!  I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.  Quick question to the group is your spouse/significant other overweight or supportive of your efforts to become more healthy?  If not how do you handle it?  It’s somewhat frustrating (however it’s funny since my kids are now questioning everything we eat and whether or not its “healthy” and most of the time my choices are, however my spouses’ are not :(

I’m starting a journal below be sure to check it out!

Steve, wow what fantastic changes. Congrats!

My wife is not only supportive, but she is more hardcore about losing bodyfat than I am. If I didn’t make her take time off, or have a piece of cheesecake (sugarfree of course) now and again, she’ed keep going.

Help i’ve fallen and I can’t get up! (j/k) I suffered a stress fracture in my foot (dr. said it was related to being “overly agressive” with my excersize!) I’m just about done with the therapy and ready to get back on the wagon, i’ve been kinda depressed because of it :( Anybody else suffering the blahs that’s been working on losing weight since last Dec/Jan?
