Well hey there^o^

So I am a fifteen year old girl that’s been trying to lose weight for a very long time (likeee 3 years now)
and I was recently told by my personal trainer that the reason I keep gaining is because I was starving myself
which I didn realize because I thought 1500 calories was enough.
Instead of counting calories now
I’m doing portion control and paying very close attention to when I’m satisfied.

As for the exercise, I definitely need a kick in the butt
It’s really hard to keep an exercise program going when you aren’t getting any support
and so I am coming here to get feedback and motivation:)

I will start my one hundred days on Monday, June 30th, 2008 (I don have time to exercise till then, but I will make sure to do those small daily changes that make the biggest differences) and please please gimme some feedback or comment so that I know I’m not alone!

Thanks:D

Welcome, Maria! Wow, a personal trainer at 15, you’ve certainly got a head start.

What are your goals? Do you want to lose a certain amount of weight, or get to a physical goal (like dress size), or make a fitness goal (like a run a 5k)?

If you have any questions, or anything, just say so and one of us will have some sort of an idea. I hope. hmmm

Have a great weekend!

Bree

First question - how’d you crate a pole - I didn’t know you could even do that!!  I selected swimming as my favourite, but I do more weight training.  And ask me again after I have been to a few more Masters swim practices and I may decide differently.  I had my first one on Monday and it kicked my butt good.

Your personal trainer is right - you have to fuel your body if you want it to function well.  If you want to burn fat then you still need to “stoke the fire” by eating well so you will have the energy to workout effectively.

Maria,
You definitely are not alone.  You will find lots of help, motivation and some kicks in the butt here, whatever you need.  Will look for your post after your first workout on Monday.

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

OHHH MYYYY
Kay so i DEFINITELY forgot that I made this post
and I also thought no one would reply.
Thanks so much for doing soo!

As for making the poll, I honestly don’t know haha. After I write this I’ll try and figure it out and let you guys know:)

My goals are to be able to run the mile that we have to run in gym class in about 10 or 11 mins
and NOT be last.
I’ve also realized that my body was meant to be curvy
so I’ll never look like Audrey Hepburn, no matter HOW much I want to
I’m thinking of the whole Cather Zeta Jones look.

Since school’s started, I’ve fallen off the wagon
I have recorded EVERYTHING I ate in the past three weeks
and I need to review it and see what I can do differently.
I really really want to get back on track because I have a goal of about 125-130lbs by next summer
which I know is a LONG time,
but my psychologist (yes, my weight has such a big impact on my life that I’ve been to MANY shrinks)
said that if I lose about two pounds a month
it’ll be the easiest way to keep it off FOREVER.
And that’s what I want
PERMANENT weight loss, not jus a quick fix.

My favorite book that I found this summer is ‘French Women Don’t Get Fat’
If anyone has read it, I bet they loved it too
but if not,
basically it’s about how to eat for pleasure and live a healthy and active life
the French way:)

So basically
I’m restarting my one hundred days of exercise
and this time, I know I’ll stick with it
because my mind is in a completely different point of view
I have to stop battling with my good intentions
and join ‘em.
So wish me luck!!:)

I think it’s awesome that you’re taking this on when you’re young (that’s what I did aswell - I’m 19 now) and I totally know you can do it.

It sounds like you have a good base to work off of, and you know that the quick fixes are not very effective, which is already a huge step ahead most of the dieting public! And you’re only 15! Bravo!

Well it seems like I should get it under control NOW
and not when it’s too late
plus I hate living like this
so it’s time for a REAL change
not jus longing to be skinny.
I’ve given myself a time line of about ten months or so to lose about twenty to twenty five pounds
sounds like a long time
but if it comes off that slowly
it’ll be SOOO easy to keep it off.
so by next june,
I’ll look amazing
actually, by january i’ll have ten pounds off
so I’ll look amazing then too:)

I did work out on saturday
but not today
but I’m going to start doing circuit training in my basement in the mornings now
because I REALLY want to get back and STAY on track.

Great Job!!  I like that you have set goals and are being reasonable in your appoach.  25 lb in 10 months is very do-able.  It has taken me 9 months to lose just under 40 lbs.  You can do it!!!!!

Do you have a plan for what exercises you are going to do in your circuit?  I write everything I do down so I can track my progress.  I’m a bit of a nut and have spreadsheet charts for my program.  It is nice to look back and see - Wow - I’ve imporved on “that” exercise.  I could only do X reps or weight before and now I can do more!!

ohhh
i actually like that idea
but i have all of my workouts on my cell phone
so i jus carry it around with me wherever i go.
i made a workout that’s mostly body weight resistance
except for a few moves.
i enjoy these the most:)

i did my circuit this morning while listening to Scotty Boy
and it was actually enjoyable
and didn’t feel like a waste of time
I’m heading off to the gym jus for fun now!
My goal is to burn about 300 calories a day
it’s easy to do
and doesn’t take very long
anything more is jus bonus!

So today I decided to make my rest day
I’ve worked out, sometimes more than once, monday to thursday this week
and I was ABSOLUTELY exhausted this morning
so I decided I should probably use the time that I would workout
as my “homework” time
(goals, evaluation, eating habits)
I feel kind of guilty for not working out
but I know that I do need rest
and that it’s not a race to the finish line.
