is something I bought maybe 10 years ago when a coworker at my old job had a lunchtime Tupperware party and I felt obligated to attend and buy something. It’s Tupperware’s Crystalwave soup mug. The one I have is purple with a green lid, but they are much more conservative looking these days, clear with a black top. It’s sturdy plastic and microwave proof, and it’s got a little steam spout at the top. Here’s how I use it most often: I put about 1/2 cup of fresh broccoli/cauliflower/carrots, right out of the convenient bag from the supermarket in there. No water. I add a little seasoning, and sometimes grated lemon zest, and microwave with the lid on and the little steam spout open, and in 1.5 minutes I have steamed vegetables. I can put on some reduced fat cheese, replace the lid and close the steam vent, and let sit on the counter and the little bit of cheese melts with no additional cook time. I also make my Egg Beaters in the bowl, with no oil or butter, and without the lid.
I have to admit I am not a fan of party-driven sales; they always create obligations to buy, often things we don’t really need, to ‘help out’ our friends. So I’m glad one can buy these online now. Here’s a photo of the translucent one:

It has SO encouraged me to have fresh steamed veggies practically every day. I do also eat the veggies raw, but I find that the hot, crisp-tender ones feel more like a substantial home cooked meal to me. I’m going to order a few of these as litttle gifties for friends who are trying to eat healthier. Oh, and they’re also great for heating soup.
