Days 12 and 13.

Day 12, Saturday, (rest day) we went on a lolly-gagging, easy-paced 45 minute walk just to keep in the habit (Thanks for the rest day reminder Tom) and then made up for it today. 1 hour at a fast pace out on the trail. As soon as the snow has melted, I’ll start adding some running to the mix.

Is spring here yet? I see birds and little buds on the branches while temps are reaching up to 55 or so during the day. It was pretty chilly this morning but we just keep on moving to keep warm!

Other - adding more water and less diet sodas, eating less sugar and more fiber, and ice cream ONLY once a month during the full moon. (I will NOT give up my ice cream!!!) Reading at night instead of watching DVDs. As Jim Carey’s character said in The Mask, “Hold on to your lug nuts, it’s time for an overhaul!” wink

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

To tri is to risk failure, not to tri is to guarantee it!

Hi Aimee - I love that your dogs won’t give you a day off - great motivator. I would love to have a dog for just that reason - to make me get outside everyday. I’m just not in a position where I could adequately be available to meet the needs of a dog - not home enough. So I got cats last year instead. Don’t get me wrong - I absolutely love them to death, but they are much easier to care for. (Automatic feeders are a lifesaver - I know they are fed if I don’t make it home.) And thanks for the reminder - I need to drink some more water for today!! Keep it up!!

Tom don’t hold on to those lug nuts when you are swimming either - they will increase your chances of ending up on the bottom!! big surprise

Sandy… Howdy!

I’m still here! Still doin’ it! Haven’t missed a day yet (Almost exactly 8 months so far) but, it’s been challenging - to say the least.

One of my hiking puppies (the beagle) left her fur in June and we really miss her on the trail. I can’t believe it’s almost winter again. There was snow!! and cold last week. This week, we’re having autumn again - much more pleasant temps. Thank goodness for yoga / running / hiking. Especially yoga asanas - What a lifesaver!

Peace.

Wow ... haven’t missed a day?  PYOTB!  You’re an inspiration.  Sadly, my canine companion is a Chihuahua ~ love him to death, but he’s a fair weather walker, and not into long distances.  This winter I’m planning on getting him on the treadmill!
