Day 27 ended up being a rest day, wasn’t feeling too great.
Day 28 - still feeling a little blah, found I was in my target heart rate doing a much slower speed on the treadmill, so just stayed there.  Only did 50 minutes.  (Just think, a few months ago I would have thought I was doing super fantastic doing 50 minutes, now it is an ‘only 50 minutes’).  I also should mention that before doing the treadmill I was over at my mother’s moving furniture.  She just had her floors done and I helped move her furniture back into the room.

it’s so cool how what we considered a hard workout before, is all relative to our current fitness....whatever level you are!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

You’ve been doing terriffic Eileen!!!  I’ve had a few shoveling workouts too.  I’m not looking forward to our thaw this year… it’s going to be messy!!

Do you warm up to chop the ice!

I just started chopping when I got home from work.  Didn’t even go inside first.  But I started with the thinner and softer ice.  Does that count?

I’m not looking forward to our thaw this year… it’s going to be messy!!

What I am looking forward to is the month or so between the end of shovelling and the beginning of lawn mowing.

Had to be a little flexible.  Today is my planned rest day because I always have dinner with my mother on Thursdays.  But yesterday life got in the way, plus I had a headache all day that ibuprofin did not help so I didn’t do any exercise.  So tonight, I left my mother’s a little earlier than usual and came home and did my 60 minutes of LSB tonight.

Good use of pent up anger… much better to take it out on some unsuspeting ice!!  I got quite annoyed yesterday at a driver who almost cut me off suddenly and without signalling, then got mad at me and harassed me down the road until I turned into where I was going… I always try to just give those type of people the road way after an incident, rather then get into it with them (but I did give him a hand gesture when he pulled up beside me and started honking).  I was on my way to the gym at the time so I got my frustrations out on the machines.

Day 35
45 minutes of LSB on treadmill.  Couldn’t do any more, I was just too tired.

Day 36
55 minutes exercise video.  I dusted off an old Sweatin’ to the Oldies video.  It was a good work out and a change of pace from the treadmill and gave some different muscles some work.

Day 37
Did 60 minutes on the treadmill.  Decided to start with some interval training.  But as my motto goes, I started slowly.  Every 10 minutes, I ramped up the speed as fast as I could do at a walk.  I started at 20 seconds and worked up to a minute.

I am going to make today and tomorrow rest days.  I have not been sleeping well the last week and a half so decided see if I can get back into a good sleep pattern.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I lost 3 pounds this week.

I’m back after my two days of rest.  I’ve slept a little better the last two nights and hope to be all caught up on my sleep by the end of the weekend.

Today I did the SLSB for 60 minutes.  That is the Slow Long Slow Burn.  Because I was still feeling tired I slowed it down a bit a kept at a 70% heart rate.  But it did feel good to be back on the treadmill.  Now tomorrow I need to get back to my neglected housework.

Good Job on the lost pounds!!

Isn’t getting quality sleep so good.  I always have a sleep deficit by the weekend and enjoy catching up!!  (quite often with one or both of the littlie ones in my avatar curled up on top of me!)

Had to go check my calendar to see what day I am on.

Day 40
Leslie Sansone DVD - 3 mile walk and Abs

I like the treadmill because I can watch TV or listen to podcasts but find it is good to mix in a DVD or video once in a while to keep out of a rut and also to get some different muscles moving.

Day 41

My family went to a Easter Brunch buffet.  To help offset the brunch I walked to the restaurant and back - about 25 minutes each way.  It was 20 degrees out and I had to navigate over some frozen puddles but at least the sun was shining!

I plan on doing the treadmill or an exercise DVD a little later.

Edit : Ended up doinga 53 minute aerobic video.

Yah - I’m doubling up today too to make up for yesterdays turkey, ham, yam, potato, etc, etc dinner - about to go for a walk before it gets dark - it will be the first time I’ve used my iPod outside. Will have to find something upbeat to keep my speed up.

How close are you to the 100’s… remember I’m following you down the scale!

Catherine,
I started at 230, now at 216, so almost halfway there.  I will blaze a trail for you.

Thanks… if only I could really draft behind you to make things a bit easier.  I’m willing to put the hard work in though - I actually really enjoy my workouts (most of the time).
