I heard Scott mention Dr. David Hawkin’s “Power Vs. Force” which is such a good read that it could possibly change your life - forever, but that’s not the only one out there. Why don’t we have a category where we can share the great books that have changed our lives. Bill Phillip’s, Dr Dyer’s & Thich Naht Hanh’s books are up there too.
Oh - tinkoff is after my heart with this category. Great idea!
I’ll rattle off a few that I know of off hand:
The Doctor’s Pocket Calorie, Fat & Carb Counter - comes out yearly with food information and includes most restraunts. I have the palm software version of it and when I have to eat out, I’ll reference it before I order.
The Success Principles: How to Get From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be - need I say more?
Anything by John C. Maxwell especially his 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership
I’m drawing a complete blank on the rest. When I remember them - I’ll add. I’ll be inerested to see what others will say.
The more books you read - the more money you make. It’s absolutely true. Knowledge is everything.
Let’s all jump on Adams lead. Tell us what books have value to you. When we get enough - I’ll
have a list compiled and post it on the website.
I never lend a book - but many, many times will purchase and give a book to somebody I think will
value it. Over the years it’s been a very fullfilling experience.
Right now? I’m re-reading “Life Is A Series of Presentations” by Tony Jeary. Great self-esteem building which always
leads to shaping up your body.
I posted a comment about this book in the hello to Jason Womack - but this one is so good it’s worth mentioning twice…
“Getting Things Done” by David Allen.
This book is a shot of clear thinking in a cluttered world. It will deliver what the title promises - and teach you how to get it all down, prioritize, and either toss it out or GET IT DONE… I promise that if you read this book, you will clean your office, junk drawers, closets, whatever… and find a new way to carve a clear path through the snow of your life.
I also am “Getting things done”, though I don’t consider myself a pro at the system yet. I really like the book, and want to start learning good systems while I’m young. I listened to an older M2M show with Scoot and son, and really felt motivated to buy some good books. Thanks for the suggestion guys/gals and keep them comming. Time to get moving…
Here is the book that really changed my view on life. I continue to read / listen to it all the time.
Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings
by Lynn Grabhorn
I have “Getting Things Done†and “Power Vs. Force†waiting for me at my library and I have “Excuse Me, Your Life Is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings”, “Life Is a Series of Presentations : Eight Ways to Inspire, Inform, and Influence Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime” and “Ready for Anything : 52 Productivity Principles for Work and Life” also by David Allen in my wishlist with Amazon.
Ok you guys have convinced me to check out some of these books - I really haven’t ever read any “motivational” type books before, but I’m certainly willing to give it a shot. I figure if I’m going through so many changes in my life right now a few more won’t hurt.
Amazon here I come and keep the suggestions rolling.
Another great topic. I love this forum. Anyway, I’m a big fan of Pat Croce so anything by him is very motivational. 110%, I Free Great! (and you will to). I have put something together called my Success Library. I am a big reader, usually have 2 or 3 books going at once. Right now I am re-reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu.
One book that got me going was Eat that Frog by Brian Tracy ( I think). It’s a fun, easy, quick read (like 30 minutes), but it has some simple things said in a way that I like and connected with. It’s about procrastination and how to stop it. It got me going enough to where I started writing my own software to help me get things done, which I now call ActionKeeper!
anyway, its a good read that won’t take too long...try it out!
Wow, I just listened to my first Anthony Ribbins talk, and it has blown my mind. I want to get my hand on so much more of it. I know Scott has talked about him in the past. So I want to ask, where is a good place to start with his material? I would think for me, auido form would be a better way for me to get his message cause I have more time to listen than to straight read. But, also books are important. Does anyone have any favorite books by him that go through his whole process that I might find usuful to change my life?
I am currently reading “Dare to Win” by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. I am really enjoying this one. I also checked out from the Library “Conversations with Millionaires” by Mike Litman and Jason Oman. In this book Mike Litman has a weekly radio program in which he interviews people like Mark Victor Hansen, Jack Canfield, Jim Rohn, and many others. I have really been enjoying this one so far. I just started getting into checking out Tony Robbins Cd’s from the Library. To help save money on books I either go to the Library, ebay, or amazon. I don’t like paying full price for books. Most of the time though I try to find what I want at the Library. The next book I am going to read is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill
