Hi to all my fellow MTM crews!  Day 1

Ok.  I am starting off slowly but have had a fantastic day just knowing that I am doing what is best for my body, soul, and spirit.  I set a schedule for my daily workout.  Not having a locked-in time to exercise daily was a huge obstacle to face.  I usually make myself available to my family in the early morning and again in the evening.  For years this has been the case.  Today, I simply explained to those who generally beg and borrow my time that I had made an executive decision.  I leave to get to the gym at 6:50.  By 7:00 I was on the treadmill.  I walked for half an hour then came right home.  No stopping at Starbuck’s, Peet’s, or the local donut shop!  Right on!

After being in administrative positions for nearly 20 years, I realize that the constant need to be at my desk produced a habit of not exercising.  Lunches were often eaten while I worked.  Yuk!  With my new home based business, I have the opportunity to do it all differently.  And I am.  Today, I also went out to market my business...walking through two major outdoor shopping areas.  I have been moving more today than I have in quite a while.  I even picked up a brochure for the Avon Walk-a-thon.  I believe I can do it.

I am feeling EMPOWERED!  I am empowered.

Thanks again to everyone for your posts and offering of support.  I know that I could not embark upon this journey without you.  You each have incredible testimonies; I am constantly learning from your posts and stories of success.

Besides getting to the gym...what are your goals?

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Day 8

Though I have kept up my exercise and have found ways to include a variety of activities into my day for the past 7 days, I have not kept up with my posting.  It’s a trap, I figured.  It’s because of the support I receive here that I am able to maintain my level of enthusiasm and boost to continue.  Also, I know, the accountability factor is part of success.

Take 2…

I have increased my activity level from the minimal 30 minutes at the gym to include 20 minutes of walking in the evening.  I have always liked walking.  I like the quietness I find; it gives me a time to pray or meditate. It’s calming to me.

Today, a rest day, my goal is to define my goals more specifically.  Though I dropped off some of my favorite eating habits (Starbuck’s Venti Hot Chocolate w/ Whip, cheese, and chocolate candy), I still have no consistent method for managing my caloric intake.  I am drinking at least 8 12 oz. glasses of water a day and have been for the past several days.  Funny thing is that I set it up on an index card on my fridge to record each glass I have...but no recording…

Is this a matter of the will?  Or just laziness?

I did lose 11 pounds within the past two weeks.  Part of it is because of a new high blood pressure med I am taking.  But I think that some of my efforts are paying off.  The bad part is that I have no way of knowing for sure.  Time to start recording.

Start Weight: 312
Today’s Weight: 291

Blossom,

Congrats on your great start. Keep coming around here and listening to the podcasts and you’ll get lots of good ideas to achieve your goals. And congrats to you on giving yourself permission to “have to be there by 7am”. The hardest part of working out for busy people is time, and the only solution is to put it on your schedule and work everything else around it. That took me forever to embrace, and now that I have...duck soup.

For managing my calorie intake (i’ve been doing it for over two years, even though I am at my goal weight) I use http://www.fitday.com

It’s easy to use, and doesn’t take that long

Just an idea
