Day 10 - Guess what? 1 Hour swim team workout! Distance free day - tough but felt better than last Wednesday. Set of 500s. I think a lot of what I need to learn with swimming distance is getting over it mentally.

I feel like my postings are a little boring, but I’m being consistent and this is the most important thing I think.

Day 11 - rest, was so physically tired after Wednesday, but I felt totally mentally off for the rest of the day from not having gone. Next time I think I’ll go anyway and maybe move down to a slower lane if I can’t make sendoffs.

Day 12 - 1 hour swim team workout - tough day, coach moved me and 2 other girls up to a faster lane with a girl we’ve never had in our lane before. Really fast set then sprints (racing lanes), then really fast set and more sprints. Ouch! I’m already sore, can’t wait to feel my body tomorrow! It’s good to feel this way.

Made 4 days this week, I think I might go to lap swim tomorrow and just do some easy active recovery stuff. I want to try and make it five days for this week. Maybe I’ll just take Duke for a walk.

Happy Friday!

Being fat is hard. Losing weight is hard. Maintaining weight loss is hard. Pick your hard.

How’s the swimming going… maybe I should look into masters swimming for myself.  I coach a high school swim team, but have never had the chance to be a member of a team myself.  I had to learn about competition and meets as I went through the first year of coaching.  I have years of experience teaching swimming and lifesaving, but not competitive swimming.  I’m just wrapping up my 3rd year of coaching the team.  I wish all my students had your dedication and determination.  I hear many excuses why they missed practice.
I had an “ah ha” moment in the pool myself a few weeks ago after working out with weights for the previous 6 weeks.  I noticed a big difference in my speed and stamina, but I still have no intention of doing fly for a while… I don’t think my back could take it.
I have not done any weight workouts for the past week as I have a chest cold and the coughing is terrible, but I plan to get back to it tomorrow morning.  Hope you’re still getting in your swims and I’ll see a new post soon.  I’d be courious to see more details of your practices.

Happy Swimming
C.
