Scott you are da man!
You have kept me relentlessly moving forward for 30 days.
You have made me laugh, giggle and cry.

Tonight I signed up for the 100 day challenge and start day 1 of the 100 day challenge tomorrow so thought I’d start the journal.

My goals? I want to reduce my waist from 83 cms/32inches currently (I’ve dropped 5cms/2 inches since starting) to 65.
I’d love to weigh 60kgs I’m currently 70 kgs and havn’t moved the scales since starting - too busy making muscle I suppose.

Anyways more later

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Day one of my hundred days: Woke at 5am to a lightening and thunderstorm - very unusual for this part of the world as they usually hit late afternoon evening.  Anyways got on the bike by 6.30am and managed to do 44 mins avg speed 16 klms - 9.9 mph. Feeling ok but not jumping out of my skin good… mind you we havn’t seen the sun in “sunny Queensland” for almost a month now so that may well have something to do with it.
I’ve done up a spread sheet to track my progress (what a nerd) anyways I’m going to see if it will attach to my journal that would be kinda cool… nope error message filetype not allowd ah well… ah but it will copy n paste....

Weight 70 kgs Waist 83 cms

Day # 1 Tues Bike Duration = 42m20
Distance = 11.32 / 7 miles Avg speed = 16klms / 9.9mph

Well Day 3, Not a lot report. Have dug out my heart rate monitor and will now keep a closer eye on that.  Just something else to stop me from getting bored and another column for my spreadsheet - still it will be interesting to look back on in a couple of months no doubt.
Must start taking progress pics also I suppose.

Penny, you’ll be glad to have the pictures as a record of your journey. The sun hasn’t been out here in a long time either. Today it’s snowing. A sunny day would be a great gift.

Good luck with your challenge.

Thanks for the encouragement Joan. Wow I cant believe how much we have in common. I had a fractured jaw when I was 30 from attempting to catch a baseball - ended up with neualgia.  Was finally diagnosed with TMJ and yes had the braces for two years - always a great look for an adult. Didn’t those adjustments just hurt like nothing on earth?
Moving the Jaw also had some pretty foundational effects emotionally and psychologically as well. Did you find that?
I also had chronic fatigue, Ross River and Nile Delta fevers at this time so it was a fairly big time really.
Managing Estates is hell (I managed my fathers) and if anyone ever asks me to be executor ever again (as my mother did) its a firm no.  It was like opening one can of worms to find another can of worms inside - in fact it was a Russian Doll full of worms…
I’m glad you too have overcome your trials and hope its all smooth sailing from here..
It’s clear skies this morning but not sure how long we’ll see them for - we got about an hour yesterday.
Thanks again and enjoy the journey.

A photo journal of your weight loss will be more of a blessing than you can imagine. Not too long ago I was getting discouraged and felt fat again. I looked at the old pics, compared to me now, and about slapped myself for feeling fat. Looking back makes the work worth it, you can really see your progress.

Here’s one of me.

My hundred day challenge

Day 3 Bike 43m57 11.92klms 7.41mls 16.3kph 10.13mph avg HR146 - target hr 145 - 165 Max 174
The avr was a reading taken from my polar which I turned on before the warm up. Maybe I should only be taking it during the workout? Any thoughts?

Day 4 7.30 am Weights with PT - left arm still notibly weaker even after massage and a week off weights : (
All very annoying as I was lifting 25 kgs / 55lbs but have had to drop it back. Am leg pressing 120kgs /264lbs which I’m pretty happy with.

As of next week have decided to take Scotts cue and changing both PT sessions to weights which I will follow by LSB after - my PT keen which is good. Going to give it a month and see what magic we can make : )

Had unfortunate phone call from the ex boyfriend last night which was very upsetting for me. PT suggested I use the anger to put fire in the belly for my work. However, I actually find that if I think of something negative whilst I’m working out it reduces my strength quite noticably.  So gonna keep the chin up and leave the angery workouts to others ccause it dosn’t work for me..

off to take the dreaded pic now - will post when done.  Cheers

I have an old picture from Christmas 2005 on the fridge.  A bunch of the family around, and everytime I glance at it...I do a double take....."who IS (was) that guy!” LOL rasberry

Penny, go to “moving your body” and then to the thread “Then and Now full body challenge.” Deb started the thread when she was frustrated with how phony most “before and after” shots look. I’m on page 4. My first two pictures are hanging in the gym where I go. I have mixed feelings about them. I hate the first picture but the second picture shows how much one can change. To help motivate others, they have to see both pictures.

Today I showed someone I’ve know for a long time the pictures and she couldn’t believe that I ever looked like the first picture. I’m not sure whether she ever saw me like that.

My point is mostly that that thread is awesome--and very inspiring.

I’m lucky in that I didn’t have illness issues along with the jaw issues but the estates added to the burden. I was with someone today who remembers that period in my life and who knew me before all that happened and I was so glad to be able to show her that the “old” me is back and that I’m happy and healthy.

So aren’t you glad that you started moving???  Now you just have to “stay moving”!

For Tom,
Yeah the Klms and miles is confusing enough but I grew up with stones and lbs (and sorta still think in stones) then Australia when metric and changed its currency from pounds shilling pence to dollars and cents..... - crazy stuff.
Its good to see that we have members from all over the world though thats pretty cool : )

For Joan,
yeah the before and afters are very inspiring and I think that there should be an inpriation page on the site for them not hidden away in a thread..
