It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

hey, well i want to lose 30 pounds that i have gained over the past 4 years, which will hopefully will increase my self confindence (which is really LOW right now). Also, i would like to run in a marathon (but on that i have no idea where to start, i was going to just start running and see how far i got)<-- didn’t think that was a good idea so i haven’t.

okay, i need more history
do you have a history of running before!

30 lbs is very do-able ..... just start at day one......

do you know how many calories you take everyday?  start by tracking that first.....for a week

(i use http://www.fitday.com) its easy and you can track all your calories...and weight goals

good to have you as part of the community.....

The couch to 5K podcast is really good for beginning runners. The official name is “podcasts for running” and I loved it. It’s so easy to follow, and you don’t have to worry about timing, just breathing.
