I am ready to make a change but need some help along the way.  I am 5’8” and 36 years old and 40+ pounds overweight.  I seem to be gaining at least 8 lbs a year for the last couple years and MUST reverse the trend!  Today I begin at 185 lbs.

I started today with a 3 mile walk on the tread mill and burned 300 calories...tommow I head to the gym to do some resitance training.

Cute Picture

And a great start to your 100 days.  You realized that it took a long time to gain the weight, now you can reverse that trend.  It just takes a little bit each day, and you will lose that weight a lot quicker than you gained.  If you only lose 1 pound a week, you will reach your goal within a year.  Picture yourself at the end of the summer in a new bathing suit back on the beach.  Wow! - You’re going to look great.

Keep up the good work, and remember that all you need to do is keep moving one day at a time, and just cut back a little on what you eat.

I’m looking forward to more pictures.

Welcome Jen!  Cute daughter!  What are you going to do to keep moving?  I find it helps me to plan ahead the eating and moving part.  That way I don’t get caught off gaurd.

Welcome Jen!

the MAIN way to lose those lbs is watching the calorie intake (and what you expend).  Start tracking your food (i use http://www.fitday.com).  If you know how many calories you take in now (track for a week, and divide by 7), all you need to do is figure out how you can take 500 calories out of your daily intake.  If you do that, you will lose a lb a week....if you add exercise on top of that to get your metabolism going, it will be even faster (and you will be able to keep up with that cute little one on the beach in your new bathing suit!)

Have fun and keep up posted on your progress!

It’s important to know that at the end of the day it’s not the medals you remember.  What you remember is the process-- what you learn about yourself by challenging yourself, the experiences you share with other people, the honesty the training demands—those are things nobody can take away from you whether you finish last or you’re an Olympic Champion.

Jen that’s great!  Now you have a starting point.  You can push yourself a little further every day!  Before you know it, you’ll make it a habit and miss it if you don’t do it. (I never thought I would be saying that)

Jen,
I’m just getting started too.  I am 51 years young and 5’4” at 165#.  I joined WW 3 weeks ago (lost 3 pounds) and have a gym membership that I wasn’t using. Now I go to the gym everyday and make sure I move.  My friend got a rowing machine so we are challenging each other and logging our meters to be accountable.  I have also met some great people at the gym that are very encouraging also.
Let’s just keep taking a step and repeating.

good job on the weight loss....

bad eating?  let’s just start tomorrow and average it out.....best to eat better 4 out of 7 days of the week.....if you do that, you would be always getting towards your goal.

Have fun at the gym tomorrow

Day 14 - 2-7-08 - Today I was feeling a little under the weather but convinced my self to go for a long slow walk and it turned out to be my best cardio since I started.  I walked and ran (2 laps) out of 12.  Big step for me!  Burned 389 cals/120 fat cals!  Glad I forced myself to move!

Way to push through those ‘Blah’ days

I always find that, even if I don’t feel like it, once I start to exercise, I always feel better for it!
