I was listening to the telecast tonight and had submitted a question (Peggy from Minneapolis) about not being able get myself to the gym (but incorporating other changes in my life) and Scott said something like, “If you were here in front of me...” Oh my gosh, I had my laptop in my lap and I picked it up like he could see me through the screen, I was so embarassed by his reaction.  So, yes, tomorrow, I am getting off my sorry “arse” and going to the gym.  In fact, I have even established the goal of jogging a 2k in late April and doing a 5k in the summer.  Oddly enough, I feel very ready to achieve these goals and I think it took me some time to get here. I am not going to share these goals with my friends or family, as for some reason I just want to do it and then invite them to the celebration. That is probably due to the fact that I thought I’d be doing it a year ago, but, was still in recovery mode from some things going on in my life.

So, it is a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to learning more about you.  I need all the support I can get and I am here to offer the same.  Here’s to 2008 being great for all of us.

Kind regards,
Peggy

Hi Peggy!  Welcome to MTM.  I’m also a new member and this is a Really great place for lots of support.  I actually missed the telecast (hadn’t realized it was eastern time), but I’m glad you had a great experience. smile Good luck in hitting that gym tomorrow and Welcome again!

Hi Peggy
it was a good question.....
for me, planning is very important
i have a ‘block’ of time before work that i can carve out, that won’t take me away from family time, work time etc, that i can be consistent with....so i just get up a little earlier, get to bed a little earlier, so i can fit it in
its all about planning ahead .... like Scott says, I put my clothes out, i have a plan for what i want to accomplish on my workout (no matter what it is) and just get up and do it

Sure “life gets in the way” from time to time, but mostly i stick with it

good luck and look forward to hearing your progress....sounds like you got the diet side wired!

Welcome, Peggy! I’m originally from South Dakota and understand the cold keeping you in. Listening to my Mom, I don’t miss it at all.

Good job on getting out and workin’ it!

Hello Emmi and Bree.

(Emmi, I am not quite sure how I missed your post earlier today.  My apologies. This is all new stuff for me, doing this type of communication.)

Thanks for the well wishes. It is helpful and inspiring.  It looks like you two are doing great and congratulations on that.

Have a good evening,
Peggy

Hi Peggy.  I’m glad you made it to the gym.  Keep it up and let us know how your workouts are going.  I listened to the replay of the telecast.  That was pretty funny.  I’m pretty sure i would have run straight to the gym! LOL

Peggy is a tele-seminar star!!

Glad you made it to the gym…

the races you have coming up sound cool....I would make a suggestion though....tell someone! (besides the entire MTM family) that you know....let them keep you accountable....little questions like “so how’s the training for the race going” is sometimes all you need to keep motivated.

“So....how’s the training going for the race?”

Hello There.  Just checking in to let you know that I am struggling today.  Ugh, I think the weather is getting me down.  We’ve had awful cold for the last week (the high has been around zero) and I am so sick of “being cold.” So, needless to say, I did not go to the club this morning. However, there is still the whole day ahead of me to do so.  (I did do some make-shift aerobics with jumping jacks inside...how’s that?)

I have shared with a few friends that I am going to do the two runs (April 2k - summer 5k). My neighbor is going to join me and she is over-weight as well, so that’s great (not that she’s over-weight, but, that she wants do join me in the effort). We were both talking about how nice it will be to get outside when it’s warmer (for the fresh air) and then to train for it.

Thanks for the continued support.  If I get to the gym today, I’ll definitely report the good news.  smile

Have a super weekend,
Peggy

You should really start a 100 day thread, it helps with the motivation. Are there any exercise DVDs that you’re interested in?

Peggy,
I hate cold weather too....living in Southern California, I compain when it goes below 40 degress!!!

Getting out to the gym must be tough, but everytime I go, I always am very heated by 10 minutes into my workout.....it’s just getting past getting TO the gym I guess!

See ya on the 100 days of exercise!

Hi Peggy welcome to the forum.

Did you make it to the gym today?

I am like you (and Tom) I don’t like cold weather and am not an “outside” person even in good weather so frost, rain and cold all keep me inside.

Have a great day.

Hi All.

Okay, I will move over to a different thread.  Thanks for the advice.  By the way, I did not make it to the club today, however today, I did go for a brisk 40 minute walk (it was 38 degrees - yippee!).

Bree, regarding exercise videos, I am not sure if there are any that I am necessarily interested in.  I think that “fella” that does the boxing looks interesting...and I get your point.  Good idea to have DVD’s for back-up. :0)

Have a super week everyone!  By the way, I am off to Mexico on Thursday, so I am looking forward to that.

Thanks for the support.

Peggy

Cool!  Will you be around any nice scenery or historical sites?  Maybe you can fit a hike into your schedule.  See you on the 100 Days forum. grin
