Hello everyone!
I have just joined up and glad to have a place to keep track and keep me honest about my exercise.
I am involved in a challenge with my sister to lose 100 pounds this year, and I already have a slight lead.
I hope to win, and have never been so motivated in my weight loss endeavors. She really hit my competitive streak which I wish I had tapped earlier.
We are both very overweight and need to finally get the weight off!
I am 30 years old, 5’8” and 300#
I am currently a member of the YMCA and am lucky enough to have a Navy Fitness instructor as a husband.
He has been cheering me on which also helps greatly!
My work out goes as follows:
10 min warm up walk
20 fat burn cycle on the life cycle
15-20 hill cycle on the life cycle
5-10 min cool down walk
10 min stretching
sit in the steam room for as long as I can stand it - I actually love this part- it’s my carrot to get me through the work out.
2-3 times a week I take my older son swimming as well.
One Day down
Today I just walked and rode the fatburn cycle for a total of 30 minutes…
I am starting on the cold DH brought home...I will not use it as an excuse to keep me on the couch!
Today I had to get up and out of the house early. There was a storm blowing in and I had to get a walk in today.
Today DH has duty and Boy1 hates being at the child care center at the Y right now, so that was out.
I got the boys bundled up (still in their p.j.’s) with a hot cocoa for Boy1 and a bottle of water for me and took a very fast very cold walk.
Pushing a double stroller counts as weight training right? ;p
Tomorrow I might rest… but probably not!
Weigh in was also today for my sister’s challenge. I’m down a another 2.5# = 10 sticks of butter! That’s 32 sticks total for the year!
Wow, you are doing super! Keep up the great job.
I read in your profile that you live on the Puget Sound. How lucky you are! It is so beautiful there. If I ever win the lottery my dream destination would be to buy a house right on the Sound or Lake Washington. Either one would do. Are you right smack dab in the middle of Seattle?
Day five:
walk and kick kickboxing dvd...kicked my butt! Need to do it more!
Day six:
usual gym routine.
Emmi- man you’d have to win the lottery to buy a house here!
Actually we don’t live in Seattle, we are a Navy family and live directly across the sound from Seattle on the Kitsap peninsula.
New development...
DH wants to ride the Seattle to Portland ride this summer… bought himself a new racing bike to do it with, got a good deal and bought me a bike, too! I haven’t ridden a bike in years! Wish me and my poor sore bum luck!
I told him when I met my goals this year, my next one would be to do the ride with him next year… yikes!
Sounds like your off to a great start. Good luck, you’ll do it just take one day at a time.
Great blog wow you sure are creative. How old is your baby? He sure is a cutie.
Welcome to the forum, Jenni. It sounds like your husband can be a big asset as you challenge yourself and your sister. It looks like a “win-win” situation to me!
Thank you for the welcome!
My sons are 2 1/2 and 6 months.
Having two kids close together sounded like a good idea at the time, but really helped pack on the weight!
Just kidding! I love my sons, they are the funniest kids I’ve met so far!
I laugh at something they do everyday!

That’s why I buy a lucky ticket EVERY week! I’m so there if I win!
I am back in the land of the living!
Nothing like the stomach flu and a respiratory infection at the same time to knock you off your feet!
I guess I will start my 100 days over…
I will have to start off a little more slowly since my lung capacity isn’t back up to 100% yet!
Brings to mind a question. How do you get back on track after a bad illness or injury? The couch has proved yet again to be so comfy in my time of misery it will be hard to leave it again!
Day 1.1!
Today I knew I wasn’t going to make it to the gym and DH was kinda in the way around the house, so I had him do my kickboxing dvd with me!
I felt a bit better doing it with someone less co-ordinated than myself, as awful as that sounds!
Also, he was there to fend off boy 1’s attempts at distraction.
I will also try to sneak in a walk after dinner. Hopefully the exercise will help kick the rest of the junk out of my lungs!
Day 3- Took Boy 1 to a open gym at the local MyGym… it’s almost like circuit training with toddlers! A lot of chasing, lifting and playing around! Lots of fun! We were both wiped out when it was over!
Day 4 I need another rest day!
Still some ickies rattling around in the chest, hopefully I can get them out soon!!!
Yes, you could have still just kept counting, but starting over is certainly ok too. After being sick, I just try to do what I can and then keep increasing as I get better. I know that sounds simplistic, but that’s what I do. Luckily I haven’t been sick often in the past few years.
I agree, i could have just kept counting, but since I wasn’t that far into the challenge and I didn’t know how long I would be sick, I figured it would be easier to start from scratch! If I was farther (Further?) into the challenge I definitely wouldn’t have started over!
