1/5 (Day 4): Rest Day

1/6 (Day 5): Upper Body Workout (chest, shoulders, back, triceps, and biceps), 30 minutes elliptical, 50 abdominal crunches

Woo hoo!! Way to go Carrie!! I am looking forward to your summer babeness!! Make sure you borrow Gina’s sunglasses for the picture!! cheese

Right now, my arms feel like jello… using the mouse and typing is a chore right now!! Also, Julie, I know that the running endurance will come once I get back into the swing of things. That’s what I deserve for taking an extended layoff from weight training and running!! confused I can’t be one dimensional any longer (the one dimension was the ellipticrack since I started my new job).

Jello is good Tim.  That means you did it right.  Keep at it and it will get better.  Good job!

I’ll have to check out Gina’s glasses.  She is looking good these days.  I’m proud of her.

HAHA! I like the relyricizing!

1/8 (Day 7): Rest Day… not ready to suck it up yet

1/9 (Day 8): Lower Body Workout, 50 abdominal crunches

And…

I get to start my first day at the company health club tomorrow!! I am going to get a complete physical assessment and then will be able to start working with all of the equipment. They definitely have a professional friendly staff there… I am really looking forward to it. Maybe I can get a staff member to show me some new weight training exercises or how to use one of those big medicine ball thingies!!

This is going to rock!! Now, I just need to block an hour per day on my Outlook calendar! smile

I can’t wait to hear about your experience at the health club.  That’s wonderful that you have that available at work.  I’m jealous.  If I want to exercise at work I can take the mail out to the mailbox at the street or drop to the floor in my dress and heels to do some crunches. smile Have fun and pick the brains of the staff.  That’s what they are there for.

Emmi… although I have posted pics of myself, I have never used one in my avatar. Perhaps I’ll use a nice recent (and distant) picture of myself. cheese

The workout area is cool… I got the privilege of having a complete physical assessment done by a very hot (and very pregnant) female member of the staff! smile I don’t have the results of the physical yet, but she took body fat measurements then put me through a fit test.

The first test was monitoring my heart rate and blood pressure while I was pedaling an exercise bicycle… the second was a flexibility test where I sat and pushed this metal plate thingee… the third was an endurance test where she counted how many sit ups I could do… and the fourth was a strength test where I did as many push ups as I could.

To no surprise, I could pretty much handle any tension on the exercise bicycle and didn’t feel winded at all even though the heart rate went up and the sweat machine started going. (We were actually having a conversation through the whole test.) I think my flexibility was quite good.

The funny part of the test was the sit ups followed by the push ups. I effortlessly did 100 sit ups… then she told me that was good enough and had attained the 90th percentile… then I proceeded to do push ups and could do only four total!! shut eye Then she said “there’s something to work on”.

There is additional justification on why Carrie and I are on the “Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups” challenge!! I need to build strength in a huge way!!! It should be interesting when I get the final results of this test. Then, it should be interesting when I retake this test in a few months.

After the test, I proceeded to do a workout and ended up doing cardio… of course!! What a great workout area… the facility has been recently redone and they have big screen plasma TVs and state of the art equipment. I had a good hour workout…

1/10 (Day 9): 30 minutes elliptical, 15 minutes treadmill (ran for 6 minutes at 6 mph), 15 minutes exercise bicycle

Emmi… I think I’ll take your advice and have one of the HOT staff persons show me how to use the weight training equipment!! cheese I also saw someone I knew at the health area who has run a marathon… it was interesting watching her run on the treadmill… she looked like a freakin’ hamster on that thing!! Hamsters… hmmmm.... that brings back memories!! LOL

Oh yeah… I also wanted to mention that this workout area is in the basement of a different building where I usually work. So I feel 1,000 miles away from work while I am there. This place will be a nice daily escape from the hustle and bustle of the workday!! Good thing that I don’t have a Blackberry/PDA or work provided cell phone!! grin

What a great experience!  Don’t worry about the push ups.  You’re going to be doing 100 of those in no time.  It sounds like a wonderful facility.  You’re very fortunate to have it where you work.  Enjoy it.

I loved that you said the staff member was HOT and pregnant.  I wouldn’t think a guy would still think a preganant woman was hot.  You’re sweet.

Thanks, Carrie… but I’m sure I am not alone in my adoration of pregnant women. If carrying the miracle of life inside your body for 9 months is not SEXAY, I don’t know what is!!

Shawn… it is a facility owned by the company and only open to company members, but it is managed by an outside company who specializes in running that type of facility. It is sort of like a work cafeteria that is staffed and ran by a food vendor type company. It is amazing how often you run into those outsourcing situations at a large company… other examples include administrating our benefits and the on site security… all outsourced. As a matter of fact, I may not actually work for this company… I may work for someone else!! j/k smile

You could always add push ups to your daily routine. See how many you can do every day—right after you get out of bed. It’s a great way to wake up!

Is the facility open after work? You could pop in for 20 minutes and do one major muscle a day.

Anyway, you are doing awesome! (Couldn’t come up with a good question to end on. tongue wink )

1/11 (Day 10): Upper Body Work Out
1/12 and 1/13 (Days 11 and 12): Rest Days (Traveled to my oldest daughter’s dance competition)
1/14 (Day 13): 35 minutes elliptical, 10 minutes treadmill (Ran for 6 minutes)

I think I’ll add some crunches and some push-ups (OK… a couple of push-ups) when I get home tonight.

Bree… the facility is open until 7:00 pm… I do need someone to show me how to use the weight training equipment there.

This weekend was rough… we didn’t get home until late last night… and I am tired. Well, back to work… I may check back in tonight....
